RX-V2600 vs. RX-V1700

I had a 2600 which has a blown DSP board and Yamaha say there are NO spares worldwide. My dealer has offered to swap it for a 1700. My impression is that this is a model down even if it is newer.

What do you guys think - any advice would be greatly appreciated as i have to make a decision soon!

Since it's not out yet, what are you going to use in the meantime? How and when is your dealer getting a 1700?

For comparisons sake, the 2600 retails for $1399. The 1600 retails for $1099. There is a $300 difference.

If your unit is under warranty, do you have the option of a new 2600? If not, I'd want some type of loaner until the 1700 comes out, and a few bucks back based on it's retail price difference between the 2600 and 1700.

Ive got a loan AX-759. My 2600 went in for warrenty repair and they said there were no spare DSP boards, let laone 2600's

Good to know the 1700 is cheper - thx. TBH I dont know how my dealer plans to get a 1700! * just saw you said 1600 - oops*

Is there any detailed spec' of the 1700 I can use to compare?

The only real downside I can see to getting the 1700 is that you will lose the video scaling, besides that there isn't much different about it, same power, but no thx post processing I believe. If the upscaling isn't important to you, get the 1700, otherwise try to get a 2700 even if you have to pay a little bit.

My understanding is that both the RXV2700 % RXV1700 are 'moving upmarket'

In terms of spec. the 1700 will be very close to the 2600 and the 2700 is aiming at the Denon 4306 market.

Since they(Yamaha) can't fix or replace your receiver, they should authorize your dealer to give you a full refund towards a purchase of a new receiver.
