I'll play the Devil's advocate for a moment:

The girl sad she already forgave him and has moved on.
Yeah, he moved on too. To France where there is no extradition. Fine with me. They can have him for all I care. I forgive him too ... so long as he stays there.

It is a bad thing.
I know, I know. It's just a one liner but you already knew that I'm sure.
Forgive me, I'm a scumbag. Sorry about your friends mom.

Doesn't matter. He had worked out a deal with the prosecutors and didn't show up when he was supposed to go to prison fifteen years ago, then fled the country. It's not her call to arrest & imprison or not, he was a fugitive. France wouldn't arrest him but Switzerland would and they waited for him to go there for an award. Regardless of whether he was getting an award or not, if he's in public, that makes him available for arrest.

Rape is a crime against the state. The only reason "she didn't want to persue" gets someone off is because prosecution is so difficult with an uncooperative witness.

That said: she also has no say in the "fleeing prosecution" crime that's still ongoing.

I saw some news hack interviewing all kinds of people and some of them said it wasn't rape because she and her family knew about it. WTF?????????????? Whoopie Goldberg said it wasn't rape because she was aware and was "OK with it". WTF?????????????????? Hollywood has never been a model of morality and they're reinforcing that with clusters. What a bunch of turds. They consider him an artist, so it's OK. What a bunch of morally bankrupt A-holes!
I make a point of staying as far away as I can from The View, but I wonder what Whoopie’s co-hosts have to say about her supporting a child rapist? I’ve got to believe Barbara Walters has something to say about this – do the producers of that show force each woman to “play nice” with all the others?

I'm not a lawyer and I don't play one on TV...

I wonder how the "age of reasoning" plays into sex and a 13yo with an adult and the severity of the punishment? I suppose it would be a case by case thing at that age...Was the girl mature enough to be "ok with it"??? I think not but I wonder what the law says.

If It was up to me I'd want him burned at the stake.

She was drugged by Polanski.
She said "no" and asked to go home repeatedly.

This was not a willing participant.

People who do this should be 'damaged' as their sentence, so they could never do it again.

This is simply unfinished business between the courts and Mr. Polanski. It doesn't have much to do with her now. He is a flight from prosecution. They don't take kindly to that and I am sure there are more charges due to that.

I never said you lacked anything. I said people in hollywood did. Hypocrisy knows no bounds. A hypocrite is a hypocrite regardless of faith. Saying Christians are the biggest hypocrites is just as big of a stereotype as saying all non believers are immoral. You are painting with a broad brush when you do that.

In my experience the most immoral or amoral people I have known were non believers.

See; does not go down to well does it?
Doesn't bother me either way. I tend not to judge people with my moral compass.

It doesn't take a moral compass to find what Mr. Polanski did reprehensible. That is the shocking thing about all these people defending him. Some even take it one step further to smear a 13 year old girl.

That was probably for her own sanity and not to be eaten up with hatred for the rest of her life. I can understand that, but it shouldn't let him off the hook in the eyes of the law.

I think it was more a matter of France couldn't arrest him, because the extradition treaty didn't cover the offence for which he was convicted. I would be willing to go out on a limb and say that the average Pierre and Marie in "la rue", are as repelled by it as the average Joe.

I say kudos to the US Dept. of Justice, for keeping their eye on the ball all these years and were ready to snare him the second he stepped over France's border.

Actually, France simply doesn't extradite its own citizens.

He's left France on many occasions in the past 30 years, though never come to America.

Actually, they do. They just couldn't in this case.

I know he's left France before, but they weren't able to catch him in time, before he returned to France. It's good to see they never gave up on catching him. Better late than never.

Sure you do. You found what he did reprehensible correct? Sex with a 13 year old is against your moral compass Yes? You just judged him with your moral compass and rightly so I might add:D
