I've managed to push a sub into the closet. You don't get much from it in the next room at the listening position. In here it rumbles pretty good (for condoland). I expected more at the listening position ... I gotta try out some other stuff, namely getting the other one cranking too. Okay, got that but it's still lame.

As I wait for my calibration disc, I think that I'll try to get some reviews done for Amazon. True, I'll end up spending the say watching TV, but I can always hope to do something else.

Btw, if anyone here has strong Google-fu and finds recommended setting for a Sony KDL60W630B, I'd love to see them! I looked around last night and couldn't find anything good. I saw some from (I think) Cnet, but they didn't go into the white balance or anything like that.

Hey, I think I got this. I sorta dialed 'em in by ear. It sucked with all 4 subs but TLS' DIY'ers sound better in the wrong room than the Infinity PS 10s in the right room.

On the contrary , I am just not so happy that one of my AH brethren had to send back such an outstanding picture because of the buzz hum symptom, I am happy knowing you now just may have the right set-up for yourself.

Ah. It was the dislike of my post that I referring to. Like salt pouring over my open Sammy wound...

The Sony looks washed out right now, but hopefully the calibration disc will help with that. The screen material is pretty bad with ambient light, though. The Samsung reflected it like a mirror, but that was easier to control than the Sony that has a material that seems to diffuse the light across big patches. So, if it's daytime, the screen itself has a light haze that the picture has to fight against.

Watched Big Hero 6 on the F8500. I watched the special features earlier and saw they used a new production render so I was paying extra attention to the lighting and shadows. Dang that thing works well, and the sammy doesn't do a half bad job of rendering the render

I think it might be going back, but I'll wait until I go through the calibration disc today. The off-axis color changes are worse than I had expected. By that, I don't mean, "hey, I think that it might be changing color." I can move about 10 degrees off axis and it's obvious. On axis, though, it does look pretty good.

I could tell that you were way more impressed by the Sammy picture.

Off axis viewing isn't something that will improve with calibration. That TV is not going to make it so yeah, send it here if you want.

Soo you can sit dead center of the screen and get the best PQ the set has to offer but move a bit off and your seeing a totally different and some what lesser PQ, but it is quiet as a church mouse . Hmm what sacrifices we must make to get where we want to be in the HT. I truly wish you could have landed a significanty more quiet sammy and found your panel , maybe oled is gonna be your saving grace so to speak. Just don't settle, if you gave up on the sammy I think you should be even more ready to give up on other brand tv's that don't measure up to your expectations for PQ and overall build quality. Sony just announced its pricing for 2015 models as well lost the link but should be easy to google. I am not sure if oled was listed there or not.
