Really Boring Stuff Only III: Resurrection

Sadly, my F8500 is going back. Due to Samsung's (IMO) intentional runaround on getting a service tech to look at it, I didn't get one here before it was time to return it. Beautiful picture (except when viewed from an angle above or below it), but the buzz is too much. I tried to talk myself into keeping it, but if I have to work that hard to convince myself, I know I shouldn't do it.

On our way to italy, someone needs to invent something that just morphs us to another country, this takes so long...

This will be the first time the kids really get to stay in Italy, also the longest stay we will have in the new villa since we bought it, just 15,000 more stays there and it will seem like the money was well spent, Hmmm... Brand New Aston Martin One in my garage or 6 bedroom villa an entire ocean and 4500 miles away?????? We are now waiting to go get on a plane so you know who won that argument...

Try to wrap your mind around this, my wife shipped our clothes there, so I am thinking, thats OK, it will make it easier when we fly there {makes sense, now I don't need luggage}, NO, now I am going to have luggage except its full of stupid stuff like pictures, curtains, curtain rods, sheet sets, etc etc etc, if the plane crashes and we live and are abandoned somewhere on a desert island, I will be wearing red curtains and have plenty of pictures to remember all the people that will be with me...

My only question is, did you create a samsung account, register the TV and then go into your profile and go to "service repair"? Is that how you requested service?

I put in service requests online, but didn't register. I had to put in all the TV info (including serial number) each time.

I just created a ticket for the TV creating an Odor. The buzzing wasn't there and it said that if I skipped the guide step I would be charged $55. So I just picked a hardware issue and went with it. When someone calls or I get an e-mail response I'll see what happens.

An odor? That's a known issue? Man, am I ever glad I got what I got. I just peeked at the plasma listings on AVS and those stink bombs are still drawing 2G or so. Eff that.

I sometimes see what they call Brightness Flash but it's pretty minor. Cheryl doesn't know about them and has never complained so all is well. Can you imagine Adam buying used? Buying somebody elses dust? Buying their dead skin cells? Sh!t, now I don't want mine. :D

Yea, apparently odor is a known issue, but buzzing isn't?

I don't think I've ever had that before. I couldn't before, but now I'm thinking I can imagine it.

I think we should all send Adam our old TV's.....and possibly underwear. This might take his mind off the TV and allow him to just enjoy it.

He could use the underwear to dust off the TVs.

Maybe that's where the odor comes from.

I will stay in bed until somebody withdraws the law proposal about criminalization of beggars. So then you will have to cut the silk ribbons yourselves

Then I'm on the south pole, for now it reminds me very much of the north pole

@Adam I'm on hold with Samsung support right now. He said he's going to try and schedule a tech to come out and take a look at the TV. I have to say it was a little bit of a pain and the second guy I talked to was somewhat sarcastic or maybe condescending at times would be a better phrase. I returned in kind a few times, but overall it went pretty smoothly.

Tech scheduled for Saturday morning. He'll probably say nothing's wrong with it, but hey whatever.

If you don't like noisy HT components, why do you keep buying them? :p

Oy. Packages delayed due to weather. Coffee, grinder, new ipod, and a few other things will get here when they get here I guess. I'm most disappointed about "The Theory of Everything" being late. But I probably won't have time to watch it until this weekend anyways.

I hope that they all get there soon! I just found out from a vendor that a package with a signature required had an attempted delivery last Thursday. I sure never found a notice, but it was really windy that day and maybe it blew away. I just put in a request online to have them try to redeliver it, so I hope that I get a notice that I can sign this time.

Do you use any tracking apps? I like the deliveries app on OSX. I think the deliveries widget is free, but the app is $4.99.

I don't. I just use the websites from the delivery services. I didn't have the tracking number, though, until tonight after I let the person know that I hadn't gotten the item, yet.
