I already had the piercings, and I just decided to see what they looked like now that my hair is a bit longer and I have facial hair. I'm not going to start wearing them around in public.

You didn't choose the thug life....

Thanks Fuzz, I never seen that post, I don't think he was intentionally insinuating that posting members are freeloaders, and I think I would have been a irritated if someone called me a sellout too. That is essentially what that post did, I see his point.. I wouldn't care if he got advertising dollars from snake oil .com who cares, you are smart enough not to buy it good for you, but as my grandfather used to say "do what ever it takes to keep the lights on, but make sure you can sleep when they're off" Kimber cables isn't a bad company they are selling a product people buy, they are not Big tobacco by any means, saying cigs are good for you while they are killing you, some people just take this sh!t too seriously, its just audio equipment, no big ethical dilemma here, as long as he isn't selling ad space to al qaeda or kiddy porn sights I'll keep coming back... Besides I know a few people with kimber cables and they like them, you can not say that if Kimber cables were $30 a piece you wouldn't buy them, people don't like them because they are expensive, I buy stuff for the looks all the time, I have my cables on little wood blocks off of the floor, not because it changes the sound in anyway but because I like how it looks... FANCY....:D

Im sure gene knows that with out you guys that have been here since 05/06 ect the site wouldnt be what it is, with out members posting it would be a desert in here... If someone came and asked a question and then didn't get a reply for 2 days they wouldn't come back...

I can understand that. Then again, I don't have a lot of desire to read an advanced 100 page book on the intricacies of crossover design either. OTOH, stuff like exclusive coupon codes, maybe a monthly drawing for free stuff, a special avatar indicating I'm better than the other riffraff, etc would get my attention. Add a members only jacket, and I'm all in :p
I like the Jacket idea :p
Well, I only do have a million jackets though :D

I'd give him the benefit of the doubt in this case; if he didn't want to provide free help to A/V enthusiasts, AH wouldn't exist, period. On the other hand, from his perspective it's probably somewhat irritating to offer free info and have people complain about the advertisers and make accusations that the site is no longer pursuing the truth as per the tagline. As Gene duly pointed out, if he didn't do business with people that made some questionable claims, there would be nobody left to do business with. Heck, even companies like SVS put out ad material like this:
I have less of an issue of who Gene does business with (because heck we all want him to stay in business) nor do I have a problem with people calling him out on stuff that seems to contradict the tag line (without people keeping you in check things can get away from you, one concession leads to two or a larger one etc etc), my main issue has been Gene's outbursts. They don't happen a lot, and they certainly aren't as bad as some of the one's we see, but as the owner and proprietor, once is one too many. I don't care how irritating people get, you just don't do that. There are other ways to handle those things than blasting people in the open forum where it leaves room to get taken out of context and just plain looks bad. My family has owned a small business in a small town for over 50 years where word travels at least as fast as the internet and I've never heard about either one of those two guys losing their cool on a customer. This is a job where they deal with with less than the cream of the crop in the town, occasionally with alcohol and drugs mixed in (it is a bowling alley after all and stoners like to bowl :p), and give away enough free stuff to make any business major vomit.

All I'm saying is that he should keep a lid on it until he cools off on those occasions or deal with it in private (PM's, e-mails, whatever) or wait until he can come up with a better way of approaching the issue than to say he doesn't give a rat's a$$ about anything.

Here's a little perspective from the other side of the coin on that: from 10/11/2013 to date, this random Sony soundbar article generated >4000 hits from Google searches alone; the $500 receiver roundup generated better than 13,500 hits in that time frame from Google. On the other hand, this isn't even a blip on the radar.
Which is why I said balance to the articles. I read the Ohm's law one, wasn't even aware of the other two :D

No argument from me. Of course, there are alternative philosophies.

I read the Ohm's law one
I think that brings the count up to 7, including my wife who made it through the first paragraph and quit. :p

Closing in on AH's 1,000,000th post. I wonder who it will be.

Why is it when the weather man predicts rain it always freaking rains but if they say it will snow a foot we barely get a dusting or it rains. Buffalo gets 2+ feet of snow and they hate it. Then those of us in the mountains who pray for snow cannot get any love.

I do have a pair of Kimber single ended cables, but I don't use them as I now run balanced from DAC to the amp .... bought them in these days when I was not as clever as I am now :p

I giggled the entire time I was typing this

I have that one and the part that comes with it for the hole in the desk is much smaller than the hole you already have. I believe you only need a hole about an inch in diameter for the part I'm talking about and I'm not positive it would work in your existing hole. You would probably have to drill another one and stick it in there for it to work properly.

I got some negative rep a while back too. IDGAFF :)

Oh, and I've already repped you before, so I can't add any positive to you until I "spread some around" apparently :)
