Okay, now I'm no pro athlete, but...dang, dude. :D Maybe use the bugs as an excuse to go outside or something. :p
Never heard of a chainsaw?

You might try putting glue traps under the opening.
You'd figure after over a decade of dealing with the bugs one would fill in the gaps where they get in? Tape, expanding foam, something else?

no.... you see there is about a thousand times more of them outside.... also we do spray them with soapy water, it like melts their exoskeleton or something.... but more just come and replace them...

So...how's that working out for ya?
I'm thinking that after all these years, something a bit stronger is in order.
Just sayin.

well it works great but just more come. im guessing our boxelder tree is FILLED with them and so once some space is available on the nice and toasty wall, more just come and take the place of their deceased relatives. we can spray the tree but it isnt as easy as the wall. the only area on the tree with massive groups is on the trunk so we can spray that but imagine how many could still be spread out in the leaves. we can try and spray the leaves but.... wouldnt be too effective i would imagine

these bugs are rather tough. they have no natural predators. NOTHING eats them :(. if you crush one or disturb one it releases a awful scent that attracts more. i doubt my dad would be willing to use any residual pesticides because he would say " the only reason they come in the house is because of you." or something stupid like that. but he doesnt have to deal with them since he is rarely home.

Use that Off! Backyard stuff. Just spray the siding of your house, I can't imagine it'd damage it. Maybe spot try it down in a corner somewhere, but spraying the tree would be fine. And you're using a hose so spraying up into the leaves shouldn't be a problem either. It wouldn't be all that difficult to cover the entire tree with that bug spray I linked up above. I haven't personally used it, but we use the ant defender crap and it seems to work well. I started buying a lot of products like these just to try them out seeing as SC Johnson employees get a pretty steep discount on products we make. Interns are allowed to take advantage of those perks as well :D

Boxelder Bugs

It seems a vacuum is your best bet indoors. Some well placed insecticide could reduce the problem some.

Boxelder Bugs

It seems a vacuum is your best bet indoors. Some well placed insecticide could reduce the problem some.

If you do use a vacuum with a bag and don't empty the bag every time, take a ziploc bag and rubber band the end of it so they can't crawl back out. We used to have a HUGE problem with them asian beetles, the ones that look like lady bugs cept they emit a stink and bite as well.

We'd vacuum them up, and they'd crawl out of the vacuum. So just make sure you trap them in there with something, or empty the bag every time you vacuum.

and now... the bugs have made it onto my bed. nobody else in my house seems to understand why i get so pissed. my bed is a futon. i spend probably 20 hours a day on it. whenever a bug lands on it i see it unless im asleep. thats the disturbing part. the invasion is just beginning so ive only had a few on my bed today but when it gets bad i find my self killing one maybe every 15 mins and i find one landing ON ME about every hour. everyone else in my house doesnt spend much time in their bedrooms. they have no idea how many get in and get on their bed every day. regardless of whether im in here or not, i know, and i wish i didnt. the thought of how many land on my bed OR EVEN ME while im asleep horrifies me. yes, i have a phobia of these bugs. but im sure everyone here doesnt want bugs crawling on them while they sleep. i find it amazing that my family still puts up with these bugs. for 13 years of my almost 17 years of my life have i have had to deal with these bugs. the curtains at my old house were stained with their feces and blood. and so is the area near my back door at this house. the floor is white tile and the walls are white also. and they are covered with tiny yellow spots. and soon they will also be covered in eggs. its not like the back door of my house is out of the way, you have go past it to get into the basement where our main kitchen is and our living room is. i dont get how the rest of them ignore it. i know out of all the bedrooms mine gets hit the worst because of its location. they all live on the south wall of our house and what do you know, that where my room is. they like to hide in the bushes and the garden near the air-conditioner. RIGHT BELOW MY WINDOW. they get into my room through the gap in the floor under my radiator and through the gap small gap in the air vent in my ceiling. and once they're in all hell breaks loose. my light on the ceiling gets surrounded by eggs and once they hatch, IT RAINS BUGS. also im allergic to them. im not sure how it works but once they come around i start getting rashes and getting really itchy. im sure most of you have never dealt with boxelder bugs before. want to know why? you dont live near a boxelder tree. hopefully you live in an area that bans them. maybe if you have a maple tree you have seen a few of them. you know how one can get rid of them? cut down the boxelder tree. thats it. give it a year for them to fully leave but yeah... thats it. i am quite curious as to why we still have the tree in our yard after 5 years of this insanity. my friends jaws hit the floor whenever i show them the south wall of my house when all the bugs are relaxing in the sun. i just dont see why we live with this when there is such an easy solution. sure removing a tree isnt exactly cheap but... my god. what i would do to never have to see one of these bugs again....

tl;dr I WANT TO KILL EVERY BOXELDER BUG EVER.
We have all probably seen this bug at one time or another since they are not just living on your boxelder tree, these insects actually love my maple trees as well and they have been seen in abundance here. I dont know whats going on with your home but I have never seen even one of these pests inside of my home, I suggest a small investment into a caulking gun and a case of lexel clear silicone like sealent, bugs hate it and will not attempt to chew through it, start plugging holes man ;).

We had those little bugs around our place several years back. That year, they were all around where I worked as well. I think they're kind of cool looking.

I had a black Fiat Spider with a red interior. I was thinking about doing a Maple Bug paint scheme on it.:D
