I worked with a guy in the early-'90s who looked like anything but a Conservative- long blond hair, had been in hard rock bands, had some bad attitudes, drank a lot and seemed to be addicted to gambling. But he was a good bowler, so he got points for that.
Every freaking day, he put Limbaugh on and I hated it. The sound of his voice, the crap he spewed, his conceit...... I asked a friend if he listened to Rush and his answer- "Only when I'm on a long road trip- it's hard to fall asleep when your eyeballs are bouncing off of the windshield".
I can't listen to any of them and we have/had some local/regional talk radio hosts who would just parrot Limbaugh. Someone said that I should check them out and I did, for about a week. First on was Limbaugh, then Charlie Sykes, then another guy, then Vicki McKenna, from Madison. They ALL repeated the same stuff. They made some good points, but the rest was yammering with annoying voices. I would listen to a few minutes and switch to music after becoming annoyed. I don't know how anyone can listen to that crap for years and not have their head explode.
Of the bunch, Charlie Sykes is the only one who changed his views and he's now a contributor to MSNBC. He was a staunch Conservative as far back as high school and would engage in loud shouting matches with one of his Social Studies/Civics teachers- I was in a history class down the hall and our teacher would close the door when Charlie and the teacher would launch their arguments. I was surprised when he left the radio station- IIRC, that was while Trump was campaigning the first time and Charlie couldn't take it anymore.
