Problem with setting up surround sound system with an old AV receiver

The outputs on the tv look like this, it has an weird output I have never seen called "Audio Out", but thats not a 3.5 jack. There is however an 3.5 jack called "Service" under the R/L/Video Inputs. Is that the 3.5mm jack I have to use to output the sound? (I wanna be sure before I break something)

I was going by your link for specs. I don't see it there in your photo, is it on the front instead? It's mostly intended for headphones....

I just doublechecked, there is no other inputs other then those on the picture (besides the power cable).
The border around the tv is 1mm so cant be there, also looked all around the edges and nothing.
Tho it does fit in the 3.5 jack called "Services".

It says it has an audio output via 3.5mm jack in your link....maybe it's a mislisting of features. Maybe it's creatively placed

I just checked the digital manual for the tv, and it shows all inputs but nothing that I had not found yet. (see picture)
I am also trying to find what that output called "services" is for, its a 3.5mm jack so it might be the output I need.
Can stuff break if I connect it, and it is the wrong output?

Link to the tv manual? Services I'd think would be more installer adjustments but not familiar with Hisense units at all.

I would agree on that it would be installer adjustments other then the fact that it's a 3.5 jack, and installing would be dont trough other ports like the usb port.

I see no mention in that manual of the analog audio out....or what the service thing is particularly about. Seems you need to look into the optical digital out as to a converter to analog for your avr.

The only audio output of your tv seems to be thru ARC or Optical (both digital), you said you couldn't find the 3.5mm analog output. I don't see a usb option. That optical to analog converter Treb just posted looks to be the way to go.....

With this thing, would I connect the speakers to my avr or to the 5.1 converter?

It provides a conversion from the optical digital to an analog output. You don't actually have 5.1 audio inputs unless you remove the jumper bars and insert the rca outputs from the converter into those inputs. May act as pure power amp and lose the adjustments offered from the pre-amp section of the avr, tho.

ps the output from the converter is only line level, so you need an amp between that and speakers....

pps never mind, seems there are multich inputs I missed on the viewing of the photo.

The jumper bars are only on the 2 big speakers btw, the central and back ones don't have those.
But still besides that, its probably easier to keep those connected to the avr, since I assume I can't change volumes from individual boxes anymore trought the avr if I would connect the speakers to the converter.

Well thanks guys! I will look into a hardware store tomorrow to see if I can find any of those and otherwise buy it online.

Oh also, this means I need to connect the FL from the converter to the FL in my avr, the FR to my FR, etc..
So I will need 6 cables of 5.1 to connect the whole thing to my avr right?
(Might save me a trip or 2 to the hardware store)

Yes, you'd need all the appropriate cables for multich audio (one for each channel from converter to inputs on the avr). Keep in mind some tvs only output 2ch audio, tho. Hard to know from that manual/feature list.

Leave the jumper bars alone. Use the AV1 inputs, not the 5.1 Audio Main In inputs. Connect the corresponding six analog cables from the converter box to the AV1 inputs and then connect a cable from the amplifier’s SW Pre Out to the subwoofer’s RT LOW LEVEL IN.

Didn't look at the photo carefully enough, it does have multich inputs without messing with the main in/preout connectors.

For the cables I need to use, are those just aux cables? As in 5 for the inputs that I highlighted.

Yes. Match the AUX/RCA cables from the converter box to the AV1 inputs you have highlighted in the picture. Then, connect an AUX/RCA cable to the amplifier’s SW Pre Out to your subwoofer’s RT LOW LEVEL IN.

RCA cables is a better name for them, many think of 3.5mm (like your greeen end) as aux cables. Six total, be sure the one for the sub is long enough....
