We were just talking about what we should do with the gutters. The decking will go all the way to the house so I was planning on moving the downspouts.

Would you leave them where they are and do them underground with decking around them or move them?

Move them. Don't put them under the slab. Avoid future problems.

You may have to leave them where they are and go with underground drains.

The reason being, that the gutters are pitched slightly toward the downspout side.
So if you move the leader location and plug the old hole, you'll end up with water sitting in the low end of the gutter.

If the underground pipe job is done correctly you wont have any problems. That, and put catch screens inside the gutter, right over the downspout, if you get a lot of leaves.

We have been in rain delays and lost most of last week. They are forming out the decking today(well they are supposed to be, so far it just seems like a bunch of people came over to stand around and talk to each other with shovels in hand), pouring deck tomorrow and plaster will be either Saturday or Monday. After all that, I get to work. Installing new fence, landscape and lighting, new sod and some other stuff I can't remember right now.

Ok, everyone on here keep their fingers crossed that the rain stays away for the next several days. Schedule is confirmed for decking tomorrow, fencing on Saturday, Pebble Tec on Monday, acid wash and fill on Tuesday, sprinkler on Wednesday and sod on Thursday.
Man, I think I am about 12k over budget but I am too afraid to add it all up and see!

Added 300sq/ft of decking, upgraded from plaster to Pebble Tec, upgrade the coping from Leuter's stone to Shellstone, went from 2ft sheer descents to 3ft ones, didn't plan on doing a new fence at this time and forgot to add in the price of new sod and lighting.

The good news is that I only have about 48 sq/ft of grass in the back now so maybe I can fire my lawn guy.

Well, the big trucks arrived at 6:30 this morning (I bet our neighbors hate us)and were gone by 10:30am. They said they would be back tomorrow and wash it and detail some stuff. I assume it will get lighter over the next few days but I am already loving it.

So far it is turning out exactly as planned. We are so sick of not having our backyard and so are the dogs. Also sick of not having a fence and the neighbor being able to see right into my house.

It seems like this has been going on for so long but it's only been a little over 3 weeks. I swear this has been more trying than building a house.

My fence was delivered this evening so I will be up bright and early and try to get that sucker up. I took all of next week off so I should be able to finish the sprinkler system, resod, run all the lighting and maybe start some of the landscaping. The pool builders should be done by Tuesday and out of my hair.

That looks great... Its cool to see this project taking shape.

I guess it has come to the point where the finished getaway right in your own backyard has become a reality, great planning by you and the Mrs.I hope you enjoy this beautiful addition to your home for many years ahead.

A couple of my buddies, my wife and me pulled the old fence yesterday and spent 12 hours installing the new metal poles (had a lot of issues with the old post breaking and had to dig them out). We will hang the panels today and finally have some privacy again. The clean up crew also came yesterday and leveled the back yard and cleaned the deck, coping, tiles and all the trash.

Tomorrow is PT (plaster)!
