David Attenborough's voice puts me to sleep.

Sigourney Weaver??? What's up with that - David Attenborough's english not good enough?

How did they do that anyway? Dub Sigourney's voice over David's? Paste her head over his? Or, did they insert complete footage of her?

Not sure at all why they did that. They changed some things around and shortened it up a bit here and there, as well as changed some of the narration, which is odd. I don't have a problem with Sigourney, but Attenborough's narration is better IMO.

I just have one observation and I wonder if anyone else has noticed. While David is narrating, his voice primarily comes from the centre speaker. I say primarily, because occasionally, his voice "spreads" into the mains as well, for no particular reason that I can figure. I don't believe it's receiver setup issue, because I've never heard this phenomenom from any other DVD.

I don't know if it's typical. I've seen Thomas the Tank Engine and Bob the Builder on PBS (with my little girl, I swear!) and all voicing has an American english accent.

I like David's narration as well...

On the English disc of Thomas the Tank Engine, the narrator is Ringo Starr and he has a Liverpudlian accent.

The setting of the Island of Sodor, is actually the Isle of Mann and the engines are still there. The Bishop is Bishop of Sodor.

I took this in the fall on a visit there.

after i opend it up today i seen where it says its narrated. poped in the deep forest disc, and wow, i couldent pull myself away from watching, i only have an old t.v so i didnt get HD, but still very amazing to watch, i couldent pull myself away and cant wait to watch the rest. so glad i bought this!

I'm glad you like it. It does get rather addicting and quite quickly so.

i watched 1/2 of disc #1 tonight. good stuff, even though i have seen it before on WTTW. David A's narration is is good stuff. 1080p on my machine. netflix.

i was browsing zellers on the weekend trying to kill time, found this same BD, on for $98. i paid $39.99, and it was the exact same, but when i looked on the back it says 1080P. weird, but for the price difference ill settle for 1080i lol
