Whats up people?

I'm new to these boards and fairly new to the A/V world, I can
use a little help making the right decision on purchasing a new Receiver,
I am on a budget, and am currently using a speaker set up of 150 Watt front
tower speakers, 150 watt center speaker, 200 watt Sub and 100 watt rear speakers (all Precision Acoustics, ya I know...) anyways, the Receivers I'm looking at are the Pioneer vsx1019 or the Yahama HTR6250, I'm not too demanding when it comes to the sound quality, therefore I will only be purchasing a new receiver and not upgrading the speakers, my set up will include a pS3, xbox360, and a DVD player, any suggestions? and also I wanted to know if my current speaker set-up could run the 120 watt-per channel Pioneer 1019 without blowing the anything? thanks!

I'd probably go with the Pioneer and don't worry about blowing the speakers.

that's what I was thinking, however, the guy @ best buy says that I should get more powerful rear speakers, he's thinks I'll blow them with the pioneer receiver, however I was looking at the manual online and I think the 120 per channel power is a generous rating, also I've read that the pioneer gets really hot and needs plenty of vent room, in my setup it would go on my tv stand which is open on all sides, but there is a glass shelf that would sit about 2.5in above the receiver, could that be a problem?

You're all set to go with the Pioneer VSX-1019AH-K.

Hi, Welcome to the club.

1. The guy at Best Buy knows zip&dipdo. Your speakers are just fine, he's trying to suck money from you. If one think should blow, it's him. ;)
And that Pioneer receiver rating is just that, a rating. At most it will be about 60 watts RMS.

2. And no, it won't be a problem, just leave some room at the back of the Pioneer receiver, and 2.5" on top should be sufficiant.
And that Pioneer receiver, I really doubt that it runs hot. No way Jose. ;)

* All in all, you're good to go with that new Pioneer VSX-1019AH-K. :)

Cheers,

Bob

Unless your slamming up against your budget limit, I'd go with the Yamaha. Judging from the weight listed in the specs, the Yamaha just seems to be a more solidly built. The Yamaha also offers a 3rd zone and a phono stage . where the Pioneer does not.

Well, the Yamaha HTR-6250 (or the RX-V565) is not more solidly built than the Pioneer VSX-1019AH-K, or is it now?
1.The Yamaha HTR-6250 (RX-V565) weights 18.7 lbs. Power consumption is rated at 240 watts.
2.The Pioneer VSX-1019AH-K weights 19.2 lbs. Power consumption is rated at 350 watts.
>>> And that Pioneer is fully loaded with a bunch of very cool and useful features.

* Third zone! Who the heck needs a 3rd zone? 3db, do you? (I bet you do, with a name like yours, "3db".) :D Total useless feature.
** And a phono stage! About a front full stage with four surround speakers for a full immersion in surround sound expansion from a 7.1 discrete channels, encoded on a blu-ray disc and blasting all around your room's speakers?
I mean, the OP probably doesn't even know what a phono stage is in first place. He is probably much too young for even having heard about a phono, or turntable, or LP, or vinyl, or 33 1/3 rpm long play disc, or 12" platter, or record, or MM or MC cartridge, or ... ;)

Regards,

Bob

All over the place

I got the VSX-1019 and returned it because it ran very hot. Now I got the Denon AVR-1910 and have a few questions on it. Unfortunately I don't know if I can ask about it in this forum.

Don't laugh but I don't even know how to create a new thread.

Hi steeler, and Welcome to the club.

Just ask your question right here, there is no use to start another thread, it just creates too many threads that just died very quick anyway.

Wow! Did not realise that this Pioneer was running that hot.
Anyway, the Denon AVR-1910 is a nicer receiver, with better build (heavier), Audyssey MultEQ, newer features, and I know for sure that it runs cool.

So go ahead and shoot your question.

Are you guys following attentively the threads? And from the very beginning?
And just like I do?

I thought so. ;) :p

OK guys, explain to me good this time. What I'm I missing?

What? It's not my fault if you guys looked on the wrong web site.

And you guys should know better, the Yamaha RX-V565 weighting 37.7 lbs!

And besides I do drink lager beer, but not Harp; Stella Artois lager.
But it still too early in the day for that, so I'll stick with my Columbian coffee.
And some magic pills too. :D

And about you? Did you also have a beer, about a couple of hours ago or so, when you came up with the same figures than 3db? ;)

Thanks for all the advice, the heat issues with the vsx1019 do worry
me a little, however it does appear to be a better product with the GUI and all and has more bang for my buck, and damn that best buy sales rep, their not even on commission! and he was supposed to be the audio "expert"..
