Pioneer VSX 60 Elite no power at all

I have a 6 year old Pioneer vsx-60 elite receiver I use for my second audio area. It's just for music and audio purposes. When I push the power on button nothing happens, totally dead like to power is even getting to the unit but there is power on the back side of the power cord connector inside the back of the unit. It looks like the wires go to a small board and then to the transformer. As there is no power at all is there a high probability it's the transformer that's dead or something on that board? The unit sits in a room that gets pretty hot as it's in a sun room that joins the backyard where this unit is used. I can replace the unit but hate to send it to the landfill if I can make a reasonable repair. If it is the transformer where would I get one, Pioneer is of no help.

Fuse(s)?
Swap out AC cord?
Swap to different AC outlet?
Pull AC power cord, press and hold power button for 15 sec. Insert AC power cord, try power on button again.
Power supply capacitor(s) gone bad?

You need test equipment to check the caps, but don’t. There’s too much current still stored inside each device. You can check visually for signs of wear, bulging on top, leakage on top or bottom, but don’t touch anything in there.

Unfortunately, it’s something a tech will have to look at.

Check again fuses are required by UL/CSA..
Sometimes underneath near the power transformer.

There is a 2 amp fuse right after the power connector in the live line. Check it and if blown replace once. If it blows right away there are other problems.

I suspect your problem most likely is the starter board.

Power transformer failures are rare and if that is the problem then the unit is not worth the cost of repair likely. To test it you will have to disconnect everything and check all windings for continuity, starting on the primary side.

I suspect the board you need is AWX7087 , if you can find one. The whole parts issue with these types of products is a disgrace, with flouting of the law left right and center. If your unit is actually only six years from manufacture then parts should be available. The law requires 7. But I bet they are not available as Pioneer did not hand over to Onkyo in an ethical manner. Anyhow Pioneer parts service is your only hope.

By the way the location of that unit sounds totally inappropriate. Heat kills and has probably killed yours.

I have seached for that board to see if it is available, and it is NLA. I think it would be a hard board to trouble shoot.

Check the momentary switch, but I doubt that is the problem.

I would be tempted to try and replace the board with a standard on off switch. That may not work however as there are wake up circuits involved.

This makes you miss those simpler times, when a switch was a switch.
