I believe with the increasingly complex AVRs, AVPs, like 100 times the once exaggerated
@TLS Guy's AVR negative points is becoming reality lol.., we can no longer expect the used to be virtually bug free AVRs/AVPs that we were getting from D+M, Y, and sometime even Onkyo/Integra's.
So, my theory now is, people need to spend time reading up on the useless subjective reviews HD just mentioned and educated themselves enough to identify the lowest cost/ie. best value AVRs/AVPs. That way, they can leverage "sound quality", reliability to minimize troubles via invest as little as possible so that if troubles could not be totally avoided, at least you would be out for say less than $2,000.
Obviously for those, such as Gene, Theo, TLSGuy etc., cost may not be much of an issue because to them, $2,000 or $$32,000 likely don't matter, and they could just focus on whatever they perceive are great values, subjective or objective, or not.
