4K mode is mode 1
You might try mode 2 to see if it goes away, but if so, that would probably mean you need a new hdmi certified cable for 2.0a or higher.

25ft is a long run for hdmi. I usually try to keep runs to 6ft but maybe you have a projector or something.

I changed the settings on the receiver to update nertwork and then turned it off. Is tis all I need to do? thanks brian
For system update you first need to be sure your network is solid for WiFi or otherwise wire to your router. (Never interrupt the update, it resets automatically and comes up on new code)

Then update from the main menu settings for software update

Seriously, I have no life.
Don't try to use the remote for setup- use a computer by finding the IP address, entering it in the search bar with /setup at the end, so it might be 192.168.1.xxx/setup (the third octet could be 0, rather than 1) unless you have an Apple router. In that case, it would be something like 10.0.1.xxx/setup

I would recommend updating the firmware, among other things.

Your remote has a Setup button, at the upper left of the round button with the arrow pointing to the left- once you press it, you'll see the menu and in that, you should see Advanced- in there, you will see the Update button. I think your setup needs to be fixed anyway, so saving it isn't really going to help. Update it and then find the IP address, so you can use the on-screen setup on a computer, rather than the limited setup that can be done with the remote.

FYI- these weren't intended to be set up by most consumers because it's confusing, complex and if it's done wrong, they get bombarded by tech support calls. The Aventage line is supposed to be sold by integrators who know how to do it efficiently, not sold by just anyone who carries Yamaha. Dealer agreements are in place for a reason and if more people are unable to set up their AVR, they leave bad comments and complain about the brand, even though no actual problem exists. I don't know where you bought this, but they may have violated the agreement.

However, if you haven't read the manual, don't expect this thing to do the setup by itself.
