Hello all,

I was running a system with these components. JVC RX-8000V receiver. The CD player is an Onkyo DX-C390 and the DVD player is a Pioneer DV-320. I also have an all region Pioneer DVD player. Speakers (a set) are Klipsche Reference Premiere RP-280FA. It just seemed like the speakers were not being pushed by the JVC.

My ears are terrible after so many concerts. I like it loud. So now, instead of the JVC, I was going to sub in this Onkyo set up that I got years ago. Barely used. Onkyo EQ-140 equalizer. Onkyo -301 preamp. Onkyo M-5000 amp. I was going to use these together, and I was wondering if these would drive the speakers well. Loud, in other words.

It almost seems like this was a bundle (circa mid-90s) that were sold together. True, not high end, but I gather that they do have decent power and are decent for what they are. I guess the question I would have, Do any of the experts think this will be an upgrade from the JVC? I don't think the connections to the components will be hard, but I wonder how these Onkyo pieces connect to each other.

I guess I would not mind someone giving me some insight here. Hookup? Opinion on sound? Great appreciate any help, and thanks in advance.

Upgrading to the Onkyo setup will significantly enhance your Klipsch RP-280FA speakers' performance, delivering louder and clearer audio than the JVC RX-8000V. The Onkyo M-5000 amplifier provides 105W per channel, ensuring sufficient power. To set up, connect the P-301 preamp to the EQ-140 equalizer, then link the equalizer to the M-5000 amplifier. Attach your source devices to the preamp and connect the speakers to the amplifier. This configuration optimizes sound control, and the EQ-140 allows fine-tuning for better audio quality. Overall, this setup should provide a noticeable improvement in both power and clarity.

The correct order of connections for the Onkyo components were covered in another forum thread.
