Upgrade subwoofer

I’m currently using a Yamaha 3060 aventage receiver, paradigm 200 B bookshelves, paradigm 600 C Center speaker and the v12 paradigm subwoofer. I want to upgrade my subwoofer and I am not sure what to get. ChatGPT and Google pretty much confuse me with all their text back talk. I was looking at the defiance X 15 by paradigm, but they said for the money I could get a better sub from another. The only thing the two Ai’s did was tell me that I should probably get something besides another paradigm subwoofer. Any info would be awesome. My room is roughly 15 x 18 but it’s open ended on one side as it goes into the kitchen. I sit about 9 to 13 feet away from the TV depending on where I’m at on the couch.

Might also take the opportunity to move to duals. Not particularly familiar with Paradigm offerings but from some general comments/reviews I've seen they generally are competent subs, perhaps a bit pricey. What's your goal? Is the V12 dying or something?

I was running duel subs. The second sub was a cheap monoprice. The v12 is functional. I just want more. It’s about 40% streaming shows, about 30% streaming movies, 30% Xbox series c gaming. This is the list both google and ChatGPT came up with.

From what I remember, the V12 is a capable sub but the X series models from Paradigm do perform better. If you want to stick with Paradigm the X15 is a good option but you will pay a premium for the brand. If you want to go with dual subs, they really should be the same make and model, though.

The X15 was discontinued, unless you know of a place that has new old stock. Maybe able to get it at a discount? Their current mid-tier is the S10 and S12. The S12 would spec close to the X12 but it's not cheap. Nice sub if you want something stylish in gloss black.

Monolith tends to be the performance per dollar winner but a more utilitarian look. Hsu, SVS and Rythmik would be the ones I would look at first. If it's an open shared space the size and look of the sub may matter, so think about how large of an enclosure you can accommodate and whether you want to go dual or single. A rough budget would also help members give recommendations as prices can vary greatly.

I’m not sure why you think the X 15 by paradigm is discontinued. It’s not. I don’t really have a budget. I will just save for whatever subwoofer is most recommended. I don’t really care what it looks like. I can hide it with stuff if I don’t wanna look at it, I just want performance. Are you familiar with any of the speakers that I have listed?

If you can afford it and don't mind the wait, the JTR 2400 would be the best choice out of those. If you want it faster the PSA TV21 would be a good choice. If you want peace of mind the SVS 17.

HSU subs are the best value/performance out of everything mentioned above.
A pair of HSU VTF-TN1 subs and you'd be in bass heaven, if you can afford the floor space. If the latter is a problem, then a single D15-Chimera & D15-SC sub will do the bass duty very well. Notice the weight of these subs- they aren't light.

You are jumping leaps and bounds from the previous subs, not that that's a bad thing. Have you heard any of them to determine if they are what you're after?

AI isn't a good metric of what is good, because it just scrubs reviews. It doesn't actually know what matters or what it is talking about. That said, it is right that the Defiance probably wouldn't have been the best value. IIRC, that is what the AH review said, awesome performance, high cost.

That's quite a mismatch for running duals. You plan to add just one bigger sub to the V12 rather than start with matched set of new subs? What do you want more of particularly? Got measurements of what you are getting now? I wouldn't ask AI a question like this altho that list isn't horrible. JTR would be my top choice out of that bunch, Hsu second choice, SVS third.

I happened to look at the Monolith page recently and they don't have much in the way of subs these days, two in wall models and a dual driver 15" (well also a 12" with euro power plug).

What gear do you have to integrate subs with?

If you're in the U.S., Hsu make great performing subs with beautiful cabinets at a competitive price. SVS has been making good subs for years but prices have been creeping up. They do include a nice app for setup and have the widest range of options available.

Sorry about that man, I was just on their site a few weeks ago and they were not discontinued at the time. I didn’t realize it switched that fast. I do appreciate you trying to help me. I’m gonna check out the ones you recommended. HSU D15-Chimera or HSU VTF-TN1?
