Were there many displays/projectors that would accept a 1080P input? If so can you give us a few examples of the displays that will?
It was very hard to evaluate the flat panels because most were displayed showing near static images and as you know most all flat LCD's will look spectacular with this type of material. I would say that the Olevia and the Westinghouse will be high bang for the buck panels.

I viewed a couple of PJ's that were 1080p and they looked awesome.
The Optoma H-81 should be hot when it ships. One of the best images I viewed at CES was the Infocus 777 3-chip DLP and while its native res is 1280x720 It was spectacular on a huge screen. The impressive thing about the demo was that Infocus had the B**ls to show this PJ with live cable HD feed
And non unconverted DVD. Viewing it this way instead of viewing HD material from a hard drive showed us what the PJ will look like in a real world environment

About Monster Cable after this CES I hope I never have to touch another Monster product again I dont care how much profit margin I lose!

I was covering video but I did take a passing shot of the Mac demo room.
I think Gene has posted or will post some Mac info in the official coverage section of the site

Gene,

Any pictures or details on the new McIntosh MA6300 integrated amp? It's supposed to be an entry level model for those of us with a more limited budget. Thanks.

I just read your coverage of the new RBH speaker system. With regard to the Boulder electronics, I've been saying they're my ultimate for years. Yes they're out-of-this-world expensive, but one look at the specs and build quality and you know they aren't pushing snake oil. It's engineered to the max. I think you guys should get ahold of a full suite of 1000 series and 2000 series components. They would certainly be a benchmark of benchmarks.

Actually she was our representative, not RBH's. Look at the logo on her shirt.

I scanned pages 1-3 and 8 ...
for velodyne: I have reason to believe they might release an SPL-1500R

That was actually an Audioholic in training. Diana was very cool and photography skills were much appreciated. Apparently I have some form of photographic disfunction as 4 out of 5 of my pictures were blurry.

upconvert-dvd players (non HD/Blue Ray)

Before I plunk down my $200 (to replace my $1000 Arcam DV78) for an Oppo H971, any new upconverting via HDMI/DVI I should audition or consider? I have a Panasonic PT-AE700U that needs a quality video source behind it. Thanks.

PS Oppo vs. Samsung vs. Denon recomendations? (video only, audio via digital coax into Arcam AVR 250). TP

My CES info requests

Request #1:
At CEDIA Sharp displayed their 65" AQUOS LCD HDTV model, now available, and the word on the floor was that Sharp had plans to begin selling two 50"-59" models sometime in the U.S., currently available in Japan, in 2006. Has there been any information presented at CES regarding the anticipated U.S. release date of these models and what sizes and prices of the two 50"-59" models will be?

Request #2
HDMI is the hot data transfer technology between home theater components (A/V recievers, HD DVD/Blu-Ray players) and HDTV's. With that in mind and the path I see the industry headed, have there been any announcements regarding increasing the number of HDMI ports on the backplanes of HDTV's and A/V receivers? The two HDMI input ports on the currently available units just won't suffice. With the products which will be available by late summer, it would be easy to fill three ports on my HDTV or receiver (PS3/XBOX 360, Satellite/Cable Box +HDVR, HD DVD/Blu-Ray player)

Thanks in advance for any info you can dig up on the topics,
Yakecan
