Why is reasonable gun control so hard to understand? You will not stop every killing, especially crimes of passion ... never mind, it's like talking to a brick wall.
The goal is to mitigate, not eliminate. If the solution(s) must result in the elimination of all gun violence to sound reasonable, then you aren’t interested in anything other than maintaining the status quo.
Criminals do criminal poop. Gun reform in some fashion has never been suggested as a means of eradicating all mass shootings or gun violence.
I don’t own firearms, but I will protect your constitutional right to have them.
Why can’t I own a 50 caliber?

Let's just own anything we feel like owning....how about bombs? Cannons? Poisons like ricin! Let's do whatever the truck we want as individuals no matter how f*cking nuts it is! Yeah! With 7.5+ billion people what could possibly go wrong?

My point exactly!
Responsible gun owners should be leading the charge for responsible gun ownership instead of hiding behind the 2nd Amendment.

Godly men are responsible for many horrors, too, Christians are a bloody lot. We don't need more prayer, we need to tax churches and increase education (and keep the damn religions out of the government and school).
To a point you have, totally agree that (religion) shouldn't be a factor in government. Without virtues of moral integrity without the will of God We Trust our will suffer. Choosing a high ground for the sake of religion has never done any Nation, government or entity without consequences. Christians are persecuted today as they were two thousand years ago +. Religion or Christianity do not go hand-in-hand. To be Christ-like is to be Christ like. A religion which are of man created. To be a Christian, one must put their self-will aside. In God We Trust, is the Will of God. Christ never once stated that religion save you. Christians a bloody sort? Yeah you got that one right when religion is put first.

You can own a .50 cal weapon, but you would need to qualify and fill out the proper paperwork.

The Right keeps saying, "Libs want to take our guns". The Libs keep saying, "We just want common sense regulation". I can tell you the Right speaks from experience. No one can deny the strategy of the Left is incrementalism. They take baby step after baby step until one day their goal is reached. Not a bad plan. Our problem is when they lie about their goal. We've been burned too many times to believe, "We don't want to take your guns". (If you like your healthcare plan, you can keep your healthcare plan.)

So first, the Right does believe the Left wants to ultimately take away their guns. And some of today's brash Socialist Democrats will admit it, along with that same ilk here.

Then there is the obvious political contribution. Why are some shootings sensationalized while others are ignored? Why are the daily urban shootings ignored while the sporadic shooting is highlighted? Why are the shootings by Democrats and Trump haters ignored? To the Right, it appears obvious that the Left picks and chooses to advance their agenda, even when the majority of incidents indicate otherwise. (Just like illegal immigration.)

Finally it is the habit of the Left to abdicate almost any personal responsibility for the excuse, "The Devil made me do it". It is never a Lib's fault. It is always somebody or something else that made them do it. The only people who actually own fault are Conservatives. For those here who disagree, let me hear you say:
1. Bill Clinton was racist, immoral and evil to sign into law the bill that separates families at the border.
2. Obama was racist, immoral, evil and completely without feeling to enforce Bill's law and separate thousands of families at the border.
3. Hillary is a liar, traitor and criminal to destroy servers and files after receiving a subpoena.
4. The best way to prevent crime is to raise children in a 2-parent household where the parents actually teach, discipline and take responsibility for their kids.

All these are simply examples where the Right sees the Left refusing to take responsibility for their own actions. That refusal carries over into gun violence, (and every other kind of violence, for that matter).

So when someone who will not take responsibility for their own actions wants me to give up freedoms simply because they want to blame me for something I didn't do, I'm not eager to accommodate them.

Just addressing our top problem in that regard. With ya on that otherwise.
I see where ya coming from now, its cool. No fan of theirs at all, but when did they become the top problem? Before trump was elected, they where basically nothing, just another hate group.
Anyone with 2 eyes can see the media has an agenda, "white privilege" is mentioned everynight now, white this white that, the white race seems to be in the cross hairs of certain politicians and much of the media.
To me the rhetoric of the media and politicians are provoking the loons, both sides need to chill with the rhetoric, including trump. Perhaps its time to suspend certain peoples first amendment?
Sorry for the long reply, but this whole thing bugs me as we're being led down a dark path by corrupt politicians
and a media with an agenda.

Easy. Trump got elected based on the promise to “MAGA”. That’s it.

My questions then and now:

When did America cease being the greatest country on earth?”

What is the date range being referenced when America was last great?

In this thread there are some very strong opinions of what Democrats and Republicans on what they actually think of firearms in general. Why not just ask them what they think and wants to do? Below is a presentation of a poll where you have to guess what Americans answered and then you are shown what the poll says sorted on registered GOP and Democrat voters. The article was published 2018.03.09.

Well, to alot of people, this country was never great. Thats the sad truth.
Thanks to both parties this country has been on a decline and I don't think that's debatable.
I'm guessing "MAGA" was a great campaign slogan more or less and not a diss towards our past.
For campaign slogans to work it must be kinda catchy, thus saying make America better than it is now" doesn't have quite the same ring to it.
Btw, trump mainly won because hillary was just that bad. She was a terrible candidate. Terrible candidates usually find a way to lose.

Yeah, Neil deGrasse Tyson recently stepped in a massive cow pie for saying the same sort of thing. The challenge, Mark, is that mass shootings are like plane crashes. You can compare plane crashes to car crashes all you want, but emotionally each plane crash death is equal to about 10,000 car crash deaths, and so it goes for mass shooting deaths. Some occurrences just rattle people’s sense of well-being, and action is demanded whatever the cost.
