The Right keeps saying, "Libs want to take our guns". The Libs keep saying, "We just want common sense regulation". I can tell you the Right speaks from experience. No one can deny the strategy of the Left is incrementalism. They take baby step after baby step until one day their goal is reached. Not a bad plan. Our problem is when they lie about their goal. We've been burned too many times to believe, "We don't want to take your guns". (If you like your healthcare plan, you can keep your healthcare plan.)
So first, the Right does believe the Left wants to ultimately take away their guns. And some of today's brash Socialist Democrats will admit it, along with that same ilk here.
Then there is the obvious political contribution. Why are some shootings sensationalized while others are ignored? Why are the daily urban shootings ignored while the sporadic shooting is highlighted? Why are the shootings by Democrats and Trump haters ignored? To the Right, it appears obvious that the Left picks and chooses to advance their agenda, even when the majority of incidents indicate otherwise. (Just like illegal immigration.)
Finally it is the habit of the Left to abdicate almost any personal responsibility for the excuse, "The Devil made me do it". It is never a Lib's fault. It is always somebody or something else that made them do it. The only people who actually own fault are Conservatives. For those here who disagree, let me hear you say:
1. Bill Clinton was racist, immoral and evil to sign into law the bill that separates families at the border.
2. Obama was racist, immoral, evil and completely without feeling to enforce Bill's law and separate thousands of families at the border.
3. Hillary is a liar, traitor and criminal to destroy servers and files after receiving a subpoena.
4. The best way to prevent crime is to raise children in a 2-parent household where the parents actually teach, discipline and take responsibility for their kids.
All these are simply examples where the Right sees the Left refusing to take responsibility for their own actions. That refusal carries over into gun violence, (and every other kind of violence, for that matter).
So when someone who will not take responsibility for their own actions wants me to give up freedoms simply because they want to blame me for something I didn't do, I'm not eager to accommodate them.
