The whole 200A service debate usually boils down to how much you trust your installer's license versus their sales pitch. A lot of guys will tell you that 7.6kW is the hard ceiling for a 200A panel because of the 120% rule, but that’s only if they’re taking the easy way out with a standard breaker backfeed. Line-side taps are the standard for a reason, even if some inspectors are cranky about them.
Our inspector is tough, and not allowed here, unless I replaced the local transformer. That was only rated for 200 amp service to each property, so NEC enforced.
