I only had a few minutes last night to get them hooked up and play them, and I'll be playing much more today. So far, these speakers have blown me away. I mean, I trusted that they would sound good from all the reviews and comparisons, but these are amazing. Notice how I don't use the the exception, "for the price". These sound amazing, period. I'm not sure what Dennis includes on the demo CD he sends out with all his speakers, but I'm assuming it's some high quality tracks that really highlight the true quality of these speakers.

When Dennis says these speakers produce useful output at 34Hz, he's telling the truth. This might be one purchase where I don't feel any remorse :)

As far as those in-wall speakers go, I'm sure you can get something MUCH better than those. Is there some reason you don't want to go with an identical set of AA's for the rears? That is what I plan to do, for now I am just going to stick with Dennis' 3.1 system (fronts, and center)

Thanks for the info! I'm really looking forward to getting mine now. Until my basement is finished I might just use the 3 in my living room.

Well the reason I was looking for in ceiling is b/c the way my room is laid out and you can't mount the speakers Dennis makes. I really don't want wires running around the room so not sure what my alternative would be? I was going to eventually make a 7.1 system and they seemed like something I could try the Atmos tech on(Still researching that) then mount 2 smaller speakers on back wall as the rears. I'm still looking for other ideas but that seems like my best option bases on the viewing areas and really having no good spot to place a left surround in the room other than the ceiling.

I wonder if anyone has ever considered moving the port to the front of the speaker for wall mounting. A quick look at mine tells me it could work.

That S910 would be a very good...er, scratch that, EXCELLENT UPGRADE alternative to the Onkyo one.

well I just ordered it! Guess I should begin to research wire for this. I'm going to hook it up to the speakers temporarily in my living room until i finish my basement.

Other thing I didn't ask.. Dennis originally mentioned I should get something with 100 watts. Think this will be ok? It's 95 watts, i forgot all about it.

Unless you like to really blast volume hard, you're fine.

Any speaker wire would do, though I like the CL2 sheathed in 14 gauge or (my preference) 12 gauge from Monoprice. They have inexpensive banana plugs too.

thx! Just picked up some monoprice CL2 14 gauge and banana plugs, I'll only have to 2 fronts and center hooked up for a while but I'm still looking forward to hearing them over my sound bar in my living room!

I've always been confused, do the AA's take 100w rms, or is that max?

You probably never have to think about it. Most constant passages might be 20w max at an average listening position and moderate levels. Unless you listen to poor source material, ie mp3 and loud, not an issue.

My previous receiver was a Denon AVR-1912 rated by Denon at 90 watts per channel (2 channels driven), given to my son. I could turn it up until it hit protection mode but couldn't stay in the room if I kept it there.

Now I have a NAD T758 rated at only 60 watts per channel (all channels driven) and it's about the same.

You'll be fine, and the speakers are in no danger of being overpowered.
