Several feet to 9 feet, both surround. I listen at -26 to -20. They sound great!

Then you're using a small fraction of your amp power....overkill! Not that there's anything particularly wrong with that.

If I listened at -20 from 9 feet away my ears might not recover, and I've got half the power you do.
-20 at 9 ft isn't all that loud (65dB average with 85 dB peaks if using a movie recorded with such a reference in mind). 1 watt should do for the most part.

Sorry, I was making a joke with the "what" comment. I got the extra power in case I needed it. I turn it up more when listening to music in 2.1, but then, my 5 channel amp is driving Revel F208's. Hence the need foe the extra power to shake, rattle, and roll.

ugh.. so i have everything, and tried to hook it up but I'm just getting no sound. I have a panasonic and the receiver kept telling me to setup thru the TV but I couldn't get vierra link to work, It turns out the receiver has an option that needs to be turned on. Anyway, I figured that out but now I can't get the setup wizard to start back up. Is there a way to get that to come back up?? Been messing with everything for hours so just taking a break. I've done some searching online but nothing has helped me correct my issue. I actually manged to get my cable remote to control the volume on the receiver thru the cable setup in hopes i could get the sound working but still nothing.

I'd try a soft reset first (unplugging it for a bit). Then a microprocessor reset if that doesn't work. Make sure all your settings are correct first would be a good double check, though. Not all HDMI-CEC functions, particularly from different manufacturers, play well together. A universal remote is the way I prefer fwiw....

So I managed to get it working. I needed to hook up the Digital audio cable from Tv to receiver. I didn't know I needed something like that. My next challenge will be to get the setup wizard to run.

You were relying on ARC otherwise? I run all audio thru the receiver, never touches the tv (nor do I source audio from the tv, but will use ARC if I find something via the tv I can't find in an app elsewhere). You may have to check another setting on how the audio is directed via hdmi....

What do you connect the receiver to? The cable box? B/c I tried that first and had no luck so then tried the TV. But yea, I ran an HDMI from my ARC port on TV to receiver then the optical cord.

Should have all sources like cable box and bluray player etc plugged into avr hdmi inputs and the hdmi out port plugged into tv hdmi 1 arc port. Set tv to display hdmi1 input and then try switching between avr hdmi inputs and checking video passes through and audio works from your sources. If you don't get audio from some hdmi sources then check the advanced input setup as a hdmi input can be changed to accept analog or spdif audio sources on different ports instead. Reset your avr to defaults may help as well. Also test some analog or spdif inputs to make sure they are working. If hdmi won't pass audio from more than one source device then you may have faulty hdmi ports on your avr which is a somewhat common problem.

My receiver's hdmi out is connected to my tv's HDMI ARC port, but I normally disable HDMI-CEC due to it wanting to make the tv input the primary one on turn-on (and need to enable HDMI-CEC in both the tv and receiver for ARC to work). I connect my other sources to the receiver and use the receiver as the central switch. I use a Harmony universal remote.

What is the turn-on order of the devices are you using?

You need to look again...there's two. Right side end of the top row of HDMI sockets as you look at the back.

Yeah a cable running from the hdmi arc input on your tv to the receivers cable/sat hdmi input won't work as that is input to input.

Connect all sources to the row of hdmi inputs on the avr and then a cable from the hdmi out port which is coloured in all white around it to signal it is the primary output and connect this to arc input on tv. Everything should work fine then

Other thing to note is that all the avr setup prompts are output via hdmi so it is very hard to set up all the advanced setup without hdmi connected to a screen.

The way you had it setup with digital spdif to the avr from the tv will only pass down sampled stereo pcm audio or compressed ac3 5.1 from some sources. This setup still works well for people with high end but older units that wont switch modern hdmi. You get 95% of the quality this way anyway and it is hard to tell the difference in many situations. But hdmi all the way is better in every way.

I did see them, but I'm a jackass and assumed they were dedicated for monitors since that's what they were labeled. I was looking for something that said HDMI out.

It does state "HDMI [OUT]" right above both of them. Don't beat yourself up, it's easily overlooked.

i got it hooked up per your guys advice(thanks). Now I just need to get the setup wizard to run. I'll unplug it for a few hours like recommended and see if that initiates it.
