It seems that Audyssey are thumbing their nose at Apple and Apple PC owners, as this new software only works with Windows 10/11.

Does that matter? :) I noticed that too....think I saw that they're apparently now working on bringing it to other platforms....

I didn't register that.

I was thinking about you wrt this thread tho. This sounds like what you were wishing it had, but prolly not for $200 bucks, lol.

Although I don't like Apple's marketing behavior, I never wished that. Audyssey's decision to exclude their products seems odd to me however.

Oh no, lol. I meant I thought you were wishing in general for something like the editor app for pc.

Now I understand. Yes, this new software would probably make the calibration easier for me, but it's a little costly for a software when you can get a more complex and complete Windows PC OS software for less.

Some what a cost-based decision I'd think....for the relative few Apple folk out there, go for the bigger numbers of PC users initially to help pay for the other versions? OTOH pissing off those applish guys could get sticky :)

I would stick to REW and the miniDSP format because REW is free and runs across all platforms including the older Windows7. The MiniDSP can travel along all one's AVR ugrades. The biggest issues with this new Audessy is the ridiculous licensing scheme and the extremely narrow focus of compute platforms.

To be fair...

Apple "only" has 16% market share. That's normally the reason, but I wouldn't say they're thumbing their nose, but they're probably not ready to release the apple version.

Does apple not have a virtual box equivalent so you could run windows in a VM for a bit while messing with the Audyssey software?

Well it'll be a while before it matters to me since I can't even use the editor app with mine....but is cheaper than Audyssey Pro kit as a whole was (which had a $150 license for each receiver, IIRC) but doesn't come with a calibrated mic like the Pro kit did....
read somewhere else they say you will benefit more from the upgrade if you have the pro kit.

I'd be interested to see why. I can guess, but I'm willing to bet the better mic in the pro kit alone would be better than what comes with the AVR

Yeah this makes sense as to having Audyssey Pro, to get the better Audyssey calibrated mic (since apparently current AudX does not allow for use of other mics). Otherwise you wouldn't be using the kit I assume.
