Well I was looking to spend around $1000 for all my equipment not including the cables. The set up I liked, which ended up around $1300 with S&H, was:

1 Pioneer VSX-816 receiver $286
4 Athena - AS-R1.2 Bi-Pole Surround Sound Speaker $125*4
1 Athena - C.5 Center Channel $75
1 Athena - Audition AS-P6000 Subwoofer $299

Im looking for some possible suggestions for speakers/sub to swap with what I have to get a lower price but still have good quality. I have been reading around on here and Got these suggestions from another thread. I also read I could use the Athena - C.5 Center Channel for all the satellite speakers and not just the center speaker which would save a lot of money, but Im not sure how well it would work and sound. Any suggestions are welcome.

looks like you're planning to spend some good money on branded cables ... am I right? use that money to UP your speaker budget.

if you feel that you like how this system sounds, if you scrimp now, you'll forever regret it.

You could use three C.5's for the front channels and just use two AS-R1.2's (which are available on Amazon.com for around $90 BTW) for surrounds.

Mind if I ask why you want four AS-R1.2's?

haha, i wasn't thinking when I put that together and having those for that back. When I looked on amazon.com I saw the speakers for $124.99. As far as cables go, Im not planning on buying brand name cables, I buy all my audio cables and such from monoprice.com, my fiber optics, digital coax and HDMI cables I have all got there and they seem to be great quality for a low price, especially the HDMI cord I got.

I've been thinking about using just the c.5's for the front channels like you said to cut down on price a bit. I just got to look up if they are wall mountable. Would there be other speakers you would recommend for the two sides instead of using 3 center channel speakers for the front 3?

nevermind, I see what you were saying about $90 on amazon, through a seller.

Sounds like a fine system if you like the sound of the Athenas. Are you skipping the sub for now?

How much of that $1255 is for the wire and are we talking just speaker wire or all connections?

Amazon has the Panasonic XR55 for $199 right now, it is a pretty good unit.
