im looking to get a sub w/ small footprint for my HT room. the room is 20x16x8 but it also opens to the rest of the basement through a 8ftx7ft opening. i recently purchased the ML Depth but it doesn't seem to be providing the "OOMPH." perhaps i haven't calibrated it correctly. anyways i was thinking maybe its too small for my room and i need to go bigger ie. Velo SPL-1500R or dual SVS SB12-Plus' or dual ACI Force XLs. what would you guys suggest?

thanks

Well those aren't small subs you mentioned, but small subs like the ML depth don't often match similarly priced larger subwoofers like the SVS or Velodyne. Though ML has a very good reputation for a small sub designer.

Dual SVS SB12s might do the trick. I would call SVS and ask their opinion. They are straight shooters, no BS.

How much of your money can we spend :D ? The SPL-R is right at $2K retail, it that the limit?

JL Audio

You may want to check out the JL Audio Fathom F113. I just received one and it goes a bit lower and louder than my Velo DD-18 at nearly the same SQ but at a much lower price. It is an amazing little sub (see pic).

my budget is 1500 max......it was 1000 but you know how it is. the reason the spl-1500r is a contender is because i can get it at a really good price.

btw the JL f113 is something i would snatch up in an instant if i could swing that much money. although there is one JL dealer near by. how much do you think i could talk down the price of the f112?

Not sure but worth a try.

I'd also give the Earthquake MKV-15 SuperNova a serious look. Huge SPL and very very deep extension. They can be had for less than the SPL-1500R and I would rather have the Earthquake myself.

As for the JL, you would be looking at over $2K new from a dealer.

how would the velodyne spl-1500r compare to the Depth?

It would perform very well comapred to the ML. The ML will probably be ultimately more musical but the SPL will certainly play louder and deeper.

btw how is the Titan XL by ACI? could that be a possible contender?
