I forgot to post this part, I'm thinking about getting an Emotiva Audio UPA-7 to use as the amplifier to my Marantz SR5003.

The Emotiva amps are fantastic. For your RF-82's though im not sure how much difference it would make since they are very very effecient. Some models like the RF-7's and RF-83's have low impedence drops and in that case a external amp would be a great choice. But there are still a few owners with RF-82's and the Emotiva amps that really enjoy the combo, so it really just depends on your needs if ya know what i mean.

Just ordered another pair of AV123 X-CS Masceray Satin center channels that will replace the X-LS's are the mains and the X-LS's will move to the rear channels. They are "C" stock and from what I'm told in not the best shap veneer wise but from the front should look fine.

I can't wait! These speakers have a very nice warm sound to them, perfect for a bedroom HT. I believe the center in the posted picture is Masceray as well, not Pali Rosa, but they are close enough for a bedroom HT.

great new speakers for the bedroom! My buddy has the tower version and they sound great! The finish on those looks great too! Enjoy man

great new speakers for the bedroom! My buddy has the tower version and they sound great! The finish on those looks great too! Enjoy man

I got them as "C" stock, $69 for the X-LS's and $39 for the X-CS
The finish on these is better than most C stock, up close you can see the imperfections, but who cares!

I have the other 2 X-CS's coming in tomorrow and they'll replace the X-LS's as the mains and the X-LS's will go to the rear of the room.

I'll post pictures when they arrive, from what I gathered the speakers that come tomorrow will be true C stock, cracks, veneer issues and such but hopefully the fronts look good enough to show off, we'll see.

The reason it sounds like the Marantz is so hefty is because the speakers are so effecient. It only takes 1 watt to drive those 82's to like 95 db's (i think thats the sensitivity... can't remember off the top of my head). So in reality your only using less than half the rated wattage the marantz is rated at because your speakers just dont need the extra "heft". Now the upside is that you can experience greater bass control and perhaps even smoothe out the sound with an amp. But honestly i would go with the XPA-5 with its larger power supply it would be a better upgrade. The UPA-7 is just not much higher powered compared to the marantz.

I honestly would get the Emotiva amps 100% of the time over the Marantz amp. The MM8003 doesnt get that great of reviews and its ALOT more expensive.

You could always try out the 30 day return policy to see if its worth it to ya.

Yeah, I looked at the 5ch amp as well but I have my system set up as 6ch right now and would really like to keep it at minimum 6ch. There is enough Blu-Ray movies encoded to use all 6 channels and I don't think I could go back.

But, 200wpc is impressive, awesome headroom, 125wpc is 35wpc more than the system has now, that would be noticeable I believe. The 30 day policy would make it interesting for sure, I'll call them tomorrow.

Well you can use the 5 channel amp to power five speakers then use one channel from the marantz receiver to power your 6th speaker.

And actually 35 watt gain is nothing. You need to double the power in order to get 3db's increase. at only 35 watts more than what you have now your talking a minimal difference.

Excellent point, I could actually just power all three rear channels with the Marantz I suppose... The wife is killing this idea anyway, damn women!

I have a UFW-10 coming on 5/18 sans amplifier. I'm looking forward to working on getting this thing set up.

Here is the sub, I had to use drywall screws because the gasket was so thick, so I used gasket material to help seal it. It turned out tight and solid. I'm working on testing tonight, I'll post back when I have it in place an dialed in.

Here it is with the Dayton SA240-B installed.

I have to test it out but the wife has had a near week long migrane so I hear it but can't push it. So far it sounds excellent and very tight.

It's an AV123 UFW-10 subwoofer with Dayton SA240-B plate amplifier. A disappointment after last nights testing. The subwoofer is fine, it's the amp I shouldn't have bought. I'll be posting about it in a few min's.

Yeah, it measured almost exactly as the opening so I took the easy way and it bit me in the rear. This amp just doesn't have the power for this sealed sub. I'll post what I posted at AV Science Forum.

I ran the sub through some heavy duty material last night and the amp CANNOT handle intense material with a sealed sub.

I decided to try out Bass Mechanik "Subsonic", 30 seconds in the amplifier cut out. I wasn't even pushing it, I measured a peak of 102db when it cut out. I turned down the volume it came right back on and when I raised it again, it cut out. I think this little monster needs more power.

I played WOTW and it handled that fine, as long as I didn't even think about getting anywhere near reference level.

It sounds very good however but when you're used to dual MFW's you expect as the Martian says on the Flinstones "An earth shattering KABOOM".

So, I wasn't expecting anything quite that crazy but I was expecting the amplifier to deliver a bit more than it did. I'm going to contact Parts-Express and see what they think, is it normal for this amp or did I get one with an issue. It didn't overheat, I know that, it was just warm to the touch. I just think it was meant for ported boxes, we'll see what PE says.

They want to RMA it, but I don't think the amp is defective, I think it's just not enough. I'm going to re-check my wiring tonight, maybe something gets loose inside, who knows.
