RS1's and any sub listed. I favor the HSU VTF2-MK2 at the $400 mark.;)

OK, what if I buy the RS6's (assuming I can find a good deal for them somewhere) and save my money for a couple of months to buy the Hsu or SVS? I'm sure that I could last a couple months without a sub, especially considering that I don't have one now. ;)

just a thought? Do you want this strickly for music? What are the dimensions of your room? The reason members are suggesting bookshelf at your price point is floors in that range are near the lower part of the food chain and monitors are higher up. So you're getting a better speaker and when a sub is added its just better overall.

My room is relatively small (<200 sq ft). I listen to a lot of jazz music, but I also watch a good amount of movies.

Instead of the RS6's, what bookshelf speakers should I get? It seems that buying a pair of RS6's would be better than a pair of RS1's (assuming I could afford either). What's the next notch up above the RS1's in terms of bookshelfs? The GS10's are WAY too expensive. Any suggestions?

In the MA line none, it goes up from there! If you want the rs6's then buy them and save up for the sub later, as you suggested eariler. Also how about the infinity line more bang for the buck, maybe you should look there!! Other mfg's(energy, mirage, psb,b&w, paradigms and then there's on line retailers axiom, ascend acoustics and av123), plus a whole bunch more grab some cd' and go check some out.;) :)

As long as you don't skimp on the sub.

RS6's with the same sub($400 sub) compared to the RS1's with the same sub($400 sub) will be a better option. It is more money.

I just read about the Onix Reference 1 bookshelves on another thread, apparently they sound great. A pair is usually $1200, but they are on sale for only $599! With a deal like that, there would be plenty of cash left over for a sweet sub!

Anyone have experience with both this pair and the RS1's?
