We were a lot closer to this awful tragedy than I thought.

We had a birthday party here for one of our grandchildren last evening. Her younger sister age 11 is friends with one of the victims. We also know her as they are on basketball team together and we have seen her at matches.

She was a brave girl laying on, and protecting, a younger student, which seems common among the injured children. Children can be amazingly brave. She was admitted to hospital for a while, as she has some shrapnell imbedded in her skull, which surgeons say is too risky to remove. She has two bullet scars on her face and apparently another on her neck, not seen in the photograph.

The shooter was a trans male identifying as female. Of course the BBC and this equally woke newspaper refer to the shooter as she, which is an insult to women. Our TV reporters I am glad to say are referring to the shooter as he.

This whole episode is a disgrace, and one of three mass shootings in this metro in the last five days, the others not so serious.

Americans can not handle guns, and there needs to be a total ban.

Agree but not many listens. All scared of being primaried out of office. Bunch of cowards.
Constitution has nothing in there about regulating guns, just owning a gun. Of course, originalists distort the intent. Since it was written in the 1770 or so, musket is what should be allowed, period, nothing more. That is originalist.

Let alone that the 2nd amendment was more intended to prevent movements like a militarized maga

Any additional info about the shooter's mom, who has been missing for a few days?

It is murky. Apparently the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension have spoken to the mother, but MPD have not. The mother has hired a criminal lawyer who has basically told her to keep her mouth shut. The Shooter's father is is divorced from the shooter's mother and Robert/Robin, the shooter had been living with his father and stepmother close to Ascension Church.

After the shooting police raided the father's home, but he was not detrained and there is no further information released.

One up date about one of the boys in the church, who is quite young, and gave the most coherent description of events has now been found to have been injured. So the number of injured has increase by one.

This boy stated that on older bigger boy laid on top of him in the shooting to protect him. He is one of the more severely injured.

It turns out that the boy who gave the interview has been found to have a piece of shrapnel in his neck against one of his carotid arteries. Surgeons have advised relatively prompt surgery to remove the piece of shrapnel. I think surgery was planned for today. That is all the information I have.
