MAXIMIZING THE USEFULNESS OF A HOME THEATER WITH 2 CENTER CHANNEL SPEAKERS

Even a single person sitting directly in front of the screen benefits from "at least" an alternative "useful" speaker configuration and experience. The setup/design in my OP allows you to alternate and enjoy your speakers in various ways. Also, by alternating through the various "useful" configurations afforded to you via this setup/design, one maybe realizes, enjoys, distinguishes and appreciates the benefits of each configuration "refreshed" by not getting stuck in any one particular listening experience "ghetto").

Who on God's Earth sits directly in front of the screen? This "setup/design" reminds me of when my brother either drives too fast or too slow, takes the wrong road and I'm following him and when he has really gone off the reservation I flag him and ask him to pull over (this was a few decades ago).

I walk up to his car and ask why we're going 50 in a 65, then I ask why the hell we are going so out of our way and he gives me his versions of logical reasons to go so damn slow, and another ludicrous reason why he decided to go so out of his way to get to his destination.

He believes his ridiculous reasons so profoundly that when you're stuck following him again and this time he is doing 50 in a 35 and taking the better route he has equally ridiculous reasons.

Most people say, I felt like going 50 in a 65, this is the route I like but nope, he would give an essay on why he was right in doing what he did. Not a single solitary soul will follow him any longer.

Your "setup/design" does nothing to enhance a thing and when asked questions you, unlike my brother who would go into a long diatribe, have no response save read the OP.

How about answering some questions if you'd like this "setup/design" to be taken seriously.

The only argument you all have presented is lobbing and comb filtering, which I have responded to in my previous posts. (I have read other threads and posts where many others express the same view; that the lobbing/comb filtering argument is overrated)

I've actually tried using 2 IDENTICAL center speakers (~$1,500 each speaker) a long time ago when I was still a rookie. It sucked.

At that time, I haven't even heard about comb filtering or lobbing effects. All I knew at the time was that having 2 center speakers sucked. So I returned 1 center speaker.

However, if Dolby ATMOS could be configured to effectuate multiple DISCRETE front centers, I could see the use of THREE FRONT CENTER speakers: Fr Left, Left Center, Center, Right Center, Front Right. Of course, the Blu-ray movie and AVR would both have to be encoded & configured for this.

No. Not Ceiling or Height Front speakers.

I think ShadyJ said in another thread that ATMOS could be configured so that you could have any number of "discrete" channels, including 3 Front Center speakers, which means a total of 5 Front Discrete Channels, instead of the usual 3 front channels.

Sony's commercial SDDS employed this 5 discrete front channels back in the days. And ATMOS could do the same and beyond - IF they were to configure this and encode it.

Single center regardless of object based recordings. Even if it came to fruition, implementation and cost would prohibit most. There are scientific reasons when setting up Sound stages.
