I thought Dirac ART wasn't even on the AV10 yet?
It's not. Only Storm has it currently. That's about to change. It'll be interesting to discover if there's a new Dirac specific SOC installed inside any new ART capable units that come out.
Wait till you see the launch prices. And what happens to the RRP on the AV10.
Nice bundle discount, so I guess their trying to push on the amp.

Yes, it sounds like they are trying to link the AV20 launch to Dirac-ART's release - which means it cannot be far away! - and that bodes well for owners of the X800 series as well... (and potentially other brands with DLBC support)

The HTP-1 had Dirac ART already in beta testing last year so it's possible Monoprice/Monolith will be able to roll it out as well.

In what ways does it particularly exceed except in measurement? Is there an audible difference?
I can answer that now. The AV 10 is audibly superior to the my other processors, which surprised me. The difference is not subtle.

I hope I dare to ask you a question, as you already own a Marantz. So that you understand the context, I've owned several Emotiva preamps for a very long time (UMC-200)... but I'm considering becoming a deserter. This is due to the numerous problems persisting with the new range that Emotiva Audio Corp has just released (RMC-1+ & XMC-2+). But the question for me is, is it paradise with other brands?
Consequently, I'm seriously considering purchasing a Marantz AV 10 or 20. There are so many good reviews!
Can you, the happy owners of a Marantz, confirm that there are no major problems known to you to date?

1. Are you having problems or the video signal is struggling to connect (black screen)? Do you have to switch inputs to return to the previous input to get both video and audio?

2. A more specific question for all owners of both a television AND a video projector: do you have audio and/or video dropout issues when one device is on and the other is on standby? I have this problem when my projector is on standby with the Apple TV 4K. I also had this problem with all other sources, such as a set-top box, TV, and Blu-ray player, but it was resolved by using a Swissair HDMI Firestorm. Well, it's almost resolved. When I watch a movie on the projector screen, my Sony TV has to stay on with Picture Off. Otherwise, there are image drops and blood every 20 seconds or so; this is apparently called the Sony HDMI issue…

3. And what about you? Is everything OK?

Sorry for being a bit complicated in my explanations, thank you in advance to everyone for any answers. This will be an excellent aid to my decision-making process.

So how did you do your comparison?

You want to eliminate the risk of making the same mistakes of buying an emotiva. So, I would suggest reading the AVS owners forum on those and look at the entire thread from beginning to end.

I have an AV 10, and I am very pleased with it. SNR is fantastic. The unit is dead quiet and sounds fantastic. If you can afford it, go for it. A massive upgrade from Emotiva.

Uh huh. Please show us former and latter measurements, thanks.

This ability to distinguish snr in this range is exceptional....probably ranks right up there with his experience with nutrition!

I don't think it was a mistake to buy the Emotiva XMC-2 when it came out. Its sound quality is exceptional, especially with the addition of the Dirac Live. I did two calibrations setup, one for home theater in 7.1.4 and one for listening to music in 2.1 (sub: SVS SB13-U). The advantage with the AV 10 is that I could easily redo Dirac calibrations. I do it regularly. For example, the last time I changed my sofa. So in terms of sound quality, I think it is difficult, if not impossible, to obtain a real gap. I am not worried, the AV 10 (or 20?) will give very good sound quality.

However HEOS is now compatible with Qobuz connect. Great.

For me it’s now just a red flag: lack of reliability in Emotiva management & marketing.

In general, much smaller companies just can’t compete with giant companies in terms of research and development, compatibility (bugs), reliability, and customer support. Smaller companies just don’t have the manpower and resources like the giant companies.

That's a good way, but not even necessary because TLSGuy has only (iirc..) said the AV10 sounded better than his AV7705 and 7706 with DSP (specifically emphasised on Atmos effects/performance) but never said anything about comparing in direct/pure direct mode with/without Audyssey etc. So to me, while still subjective with no objective comparative data provided, what he claimed is 100% believable/credible whether he cares or not.:D

To you obviously that's the case, but I would think that for lots of users he would think it was a mistake and might feel like being taken/treated as guinea pigs for the manufacturer.:D

I have been saying the same, but I also appreciate the fact/or possibility that owners of those often called boutique brand AVPs or AVRs (think Anthem AVMs, ARC G didn't even work when launched lol..) would still go for, even love such products even if they had to deal with frequent nuisance, even more serious bugs because they got their minds convinced those products offer them "better sound quality"? To others like you(I think..) and I might say, not worth it, as this is a hobby that we tend to enjoy much more if the product is mostly bugs free; and in fact, objective data often indicated that those products would not "sound better, or worse" anyway, yet also cost more, and offer poorer reliability as well aside from the infestation of bugs.:D

Both units have been measured by others. The lower noise level is obvious. With the 7705 and 7705, you could hear the background hiss in a quiet room. In my rig these AVPs are connected to 18 power amp channels. A small amount of noise generated is them connected to an AVR that is noisier than it should be, is easily audible. The Quad power amps you can not hear, they are quality units.

Now with the AV 10 the room is totally quiet, and there is no difference whether the AV 10 is on or off.

In addition when you look at the numbers the distortion of those 7705s and 7706 and all the rest is not really adequate for high dynamic range digital program. So yes, the AV 10 is a unit that is comparable to the rest of the gear in the system. Prior to these later superior units AV units were not really as good as former higher end audio only units.

You can keep up your nonsense and believe your AVR is audio nirvana when it is far from it.
