Wow you don't like avrs? What a revelation. You liked your Marantz versions for years....whether or not the amps were in the same box they weren't much different. Blaming country of origin, meh....british electronics have been shitty for many many years, just look at their automotive applications. Makes bike mechanics look absolutely brilliant.
Those AVR based pre/pros based on AVRs did fairly well, until more channels got added. Then I had two in a row, that did not last well, and SNR not all it should have been.

I have had the AV 10 in use for a year now. Hard to believe it is a year already. It has been faultless and SQ is definitely improved. It is really nice to have an absolutely quiet room with no signal and everything on.

Yes, I do think the country of origin matters.

And UK audio components are NOT "shitty" as you say, far from it. I have a lot of UK built gear, and it is superlative with pride of place going to my Quad electronics. The vast bulk of my system is built from components manufactured in Europe. Only a small fraction from places other then Europe or US. The system is the better for it and by a big margin.

Uh huh. Golden ears at work. Country of origin can matter, but not usually in the way you propose. You really should move back to the UK or Canada with that sort of view, eh?

You just bought a Marantz....
I did, made in Shirakawa, Japan. Japan is the bright spot in Asia with superb craftsmanship. The A10 is superbly crafted, and way superior to the previous AVPs from China and Vietnam.

This is the first AVP that I have owned that has the build quality the equal of my Quads, Revox machines and turntables.
That unit fits right in with the best of the rest in my system, and sounds marvelous. That is the first front end in which the room is totally quiet with no signal. Which is another indication it is has quality comparable to the Quad power amps, and electronic crossovers.

I had always assumed that the weakest link was always the speakers, but that proved not to be the case previously. It was those AVPs.

Unfortunately this means that building a SOTA system from scratch is a very expensive proposition now. What it shows is that going for quality pays dividends. The fact that I have accumulated most of this gear over most of my life has made it possible. Equipment with limited life is the most expensive of purchases.
