Some updates to the room since I've been back. It's a complete mess right now but should be complete by the end of the month. Waiting on some speaker and equipment stands, poster frames and touching up the paint job.

Replacing the front BIC Acoustechs with the AV123 X-series but keeping the rear HT-63 for now because I can mount them flat against the wall.

Vader and Yoda sabers from Master Replica.

My theater is certified.:p

Some of the mess.

The Harmony 880.

Yes I take horrible pictures so I don't want to hear it. Plus I just got done running 4 miles at 4800ft so my hands are a bit shaky.:D

More GEAR pics, dangit! lol
Soon, the new speakers were put back in the boxes and the rat's nest of wires and makeshift equipment stand are not very photogenic at the moment. Plus there's one of these currently residing next to the HSU.:p

Opened up the X-CS today, the thing is ginormous! I've read the dimensions before but seeing it in person is something else.

Here are a couple comparison shots to the Acoustech center.

I tackled some of the wiring today but ran out of zip ties, here is what's left.

Way too big for my current stand, thankfully my equipment rack is a modular design and I will be ordering another shelf for the center to sit on.

The new rack from Sanus Systems. You can kind of see the cable management I was able to accomplish.

Still waiting on the speaker stands to be delievered before the X-LSes are brought out.

Matt, I would recommend that for cable management you use cut-to-length velcro. It doesn't damage cables the way zip ties can, and when you need to add more cables to a bundle you don't have to cut and re-strap.

Here are two good sites:

http://www.fastenation.com/cartSpecify.tmpl?id=32&cart=1176947301446312
http://www.westlake-electronic.com/cgi-bin/store.php?search=1&item_no=RIP-W-75-MRL-BK&detail=1&items_added=1

The first site is less expensive, but they have a minimum order of $50, while the latter has a minimum order of $25, and Priority Mail shipping is dirt cheap and fast. If you want to dress up your cabling even more, I would recommend TechFlex F6 in the size you need. Links are below:

https://www.wirecare.com/products.asp?prod=F6N&prodline=ES
http://www.westlake-electronic.com/cgi-bin/store.php?search=yes&category=CBLM&SUBCAT=SLVNG&MFC=TE&within=F6&remove_kw=

Westlake is cheaper here, but you must buy a whole roll, as opposed to smaller quantities at Wirecare. However, like speaker cable, TechFlex seems to disappear pretty damn fast, so a whole roll might not be a bad idea.

As for why I recommend these products, it's what we use on the engineering campus here at UofM when we do computer lab installations.

Thanks for the links, I was just browsing for something like the techflex. I'll pick up some Velcro tomorrow then and cut the zipties off, didn't have enough to finish the job anyways.;)

I see that Tomorrow has standard TechFlex in his system. I recommended the F6. The F6 is side entry, so you can add and remove cables at your leisure, and much more easily than standard TechFlex. Because let's face it, your stack of HT equipment isn't getting any smaller. :D

Glad to see that I could help.

So I ended up ordering 75ft of the 3/4" F6 techflex, I think that should cover my needs.:D Also ordered another shelf for the equipment rack to set the X-CS on.

Today I'm just going to touch up the paint and put in some wire channels below the surrounds to hid the speaker wire. They have been painted to match the room yesterday. I also need to find a larger channel for the cables going to the projector, home depot didn't have anything bigger than what I got which can only accommodate 4x 14 gauge wires.

Got the wire channels up, look much better than having bare speaker wire hanging down the wall.
