Lexicon MC-12 and high end processors, you pay for the name.

That is yet another one of my questions, I am asking why/how is the pre amp section in the lex and mac superior, since that is what the owners and reviewers always say.
Look, why not ask the reviewers who "always say" or the specific owners who "always say", instead of trying to badger & bully a response that will fit your personal agenda from members here.

Clearly nobody here wants to debate this with you, infact everybody in this thread has clearly stated that either they dont know or dont care, yet the badgering continues:rolleyes:.

Why dont you just whip up another username, your good at that, then fake an arguement with yourself, atleast that way you get the answers you want.

I agree with Seth to a point. I would not settle on the like of the Behringer. On the other hand, I believe once you get to the mid range stuff, I would place in order of importance to sound quality, speakers, source, power amplifier, preamplifier. So yes I would put preamp/prepro last mainly because of the fact that it does not have to the deal with high voltage and heavy current. The power amp has to deal with the same signal but in much higher magnitude where interference, noise, heat all become bigger issues. It also has to power/control all sorts of loudspeakers with a wide range of impedance, sensitivity and efficiency characteristics.

People always assume that high end high priced audio will be superior in every aspect to your standard receiver, this can be true when dealing with analog 2CH setups but in home theater it is not. High end companies either do a direct rebadged and sell it for a huge profit or they design their own but as you will see there is nothing high end about it.
ALL high end companies and products?

No, then why can we not discuss companies and products that do?
So it's just some high end products and companies?
So no one can argue and technicals? I thought as much. I like it when people will rave about a product but then can not back anything up when the case is taken off. Do a double blind test and you will not be able to tell the difference.
So you have done a DBT of the products in question?
Oh I will agree that it costs lexicon more to make their products over a name brand receiver but don't think for one second that the sound would be superior.
So you have done a DBT?
My mind is not set so if you can prove why/where the sonic improvment comes from we can go from there.
Oh, so you haven't done a DBT?
I am helping people, I help them by saving them money or don't you se it as such?
I do applaud the desire to save people money, but in this instance, do they care? Think about it; if a person can plunk down $10k on a processor for a six (or seven) figure home theater system, it's a safe bet that they have a lot of expendable cash and are possibly very brand conscious, so how much would they care if they could save $2k to buy a product with a less prestiges name?
I don't have to since we know it is not because of a superior power/pre amp section. So where does this huge sonic difference come from? No one can answer this question so there prpbably is no sonic difference.
So you haven't done a DBT?
Why do people who buy/review high end products always talk about superior sound quality over basic receivers.
For the exact same reason people hear differences between speaker wires; perceptual bias. If you spent $10,000, wouldn't you hope it sounds better than one that cost half as much?

That's all I have to say... goodnight everybody!

EDIT: curse my slow typing!

If we know who the guy is, why are we beating this dead horse? It's obvious he doesn't want to engage in a normal, logical discourse, he's just plying his trade. I say let it go. And any mod should bag this turkey!:D

Ok I see he got bagged! Great work Modman!

Just ugly, sorry if I hurt your feeling.:D Does it has a fan or two in it? If so, that would be another reason but that's just me.

Actually I can live with the EP2500 if I build a box around it as long as the op won't chastise me for doing it.
