Klipsch RF-62 Fronts: RC-52 or RC-62 Center?

Has anyone tried and compared the RC-52 and RC-62 center channel speakers with a RF-62 system? Just purchased a pair of RF-62's and now need a center to match. My local store packages the RC-52 with the complete RF-62 system, but Klipsch recommends the RC-62. I'm just trying to do a bit of legwork before venturing in for a listen. I always have a hard time with in-store demos :)

This store also sells the RC-52 for $200 less than the RC-62; I'm wondering if I can get away with it or if I'll have a bad case of buyer's remorse and end up wanting the larger speaker. I'm not an audiophile per se, just looking for something to carry HT and some gaming.

Also, while I have the experts' ears, is a Yamaha RX-V740 a decent receiver to drive these babies?

Any and all opinions, advice welcome.

Cheers,
Ed

Either center will work and the 740 should power them easily.

I would go with the 62 if you can afford it, I'm a fan of headroom in the center channel.
There's not a receiver in the world that won't power those extremely efficient speakers.

Hey Ed!
I have listened to both of those center channels and there is not a huge difference between the two. Since they are such efficient speakers, really just about any AVR will be plenty of power to make them sing. Just so you know, my good friend upgraded from the RF-62s to the RF-82s and therefor upgraded his center from the RC-52 to the RC-62. He has had the RC-52 setting in the original box and is selling it for $150. He only had it a short while and it is in perfect aesthetic and working condition. Let me know if you would be interested in it. For that price it really is a steal!

Hope whatever you choose that you will will be happy!

I have RF 62's W/RC62 and that is the least I would settle for. If you don't have the cash for a RC62, save up for it. If I had the money I would go for the RC64. I was told to put your money in your center channel and your sub woofer. Have fun

What AVRat said.

In an absolute sense, why not go with the larger, more expensive speaker - but in the real world what about size - would a smaller center work better in your space? What about expense - can you spend what ever you want on subs, or would saving some money on your center make more available for your low end?

My front 3 are RB62's and an RC52, & I'm quite happy with the combo.

Hey Ed,

I actually have a very similar setup, RF-62's as my mains and I have the RC-52 Center with a Yamaha Rx-v765 driving them. I can tell you I have been very happy with these speakers and the Center performs very nicely. My 2 cents. I went with the saving money on my center approach to free up more for my Sub and surrounds.

rc-62

Hi Ed,

I have a smiliar system. i've got RF-62 as main and RC-62 Center and RB-61 as surround , RW10 d as subwoofer. i am running these beautiful speakers with Yamaha RX-V 1900 . i love the sound of the my Center channel . it sounds so clear and really amazing. for a personal preference, i wouldnt settle for rc-52 as a center channel as you front speakers will outperforme the center and your center will really have hard time to keep up with the front:) . but as i said this my opinion, and also for bass wise i think the rc-62 has more bass foundation that rc-52 and more clear in sound quality.
