I second Pink Floyd Live at Pompeii. Of course, people that don't like PF will be bored within the first minute... What's wrong with 10 minute instrumentals? It's like Pink Floyd causes people to suddenly have ADD. I will never understand. The wall has decent sound if you can tolerate the movie. Paul McCartney: Back in the US (it was his 2001 tour, and supposed to be his last... haha) gets alot of playtime in my house, and the sound is good. Nothing like seeing him in person, but almost. You have to admire him for making it through the decades better than almost any other artist from his era (rolling stones anyone?). The Beatles anthology is also recorded in DTS, lots of stuff besides music though.

Cream: at the Royal Albert Hall

This is fitting for a R&R musical archive.
You can hardly ever see a better band...just 3 musicians....no fill...no fluff....and what a sound!
Best tracks: Stormy Monday, We're Goin' Wrong, Sleepy Time Time....
Who has ever really seen Ginger Baker and Jack Bruce at their best? Not to mention Eric Clapton in his very best old blues style.....the blend is better than they ever were some 37 years ago....control...finesse...power.....it won't EVER be better than this!!!
Probably the best music DVD I've heard.

Get this one just to say you've actually "seen" Cream. It will never happen again.

I second the Eagles-Live at Melbourne...........I'm not a big Eagles fan but this was well done. Excellent camera work & video quality, sound,& choice of songs. They play selections from every members' solo works as well as most Eagles classics.

Also check out Roger Waters-in the flesh-Live.........good quality sound & video.

Barbara Streisand, The Concert

Most enjoyable concert by a wonderful and lovable woman with a one of a kind voice. And she makes the most with her stage proven talents to deliver soul penetrating songs.

Elton John, Greatest Hits One Night Only
Diana Krall, Live in Paris
The Eagles, Farewell 1 Tour
Yanni, Live at the Acropolis
Rod Stewart, It Had To Be You
Roger Whittaker, In Concert
Celine Dion, The Colour of My Love
Emma Shapplin, The Concert

Add Alison Krauss & Union Station Live. If you even think you like folk/bluegrass/pop, these people will move you. Any straight man who isn't in love with Alison after this is made of stone.

AC/DC Live at Donnington is a great show...Angus is the show and does quite well. The audio and video is well done. Great stage and the audience goes on forever and really adds to the experience.

Aerosmith: You Gotta Move...their Honkin' on Bobo tour...great music...ST still has a great voice...between each song their is a bit of documentary making the dvd more of a docudrama imo and loses the "concert" feel. The documentary itself is worth the price of the dvd to me...been an A fan since the early 70's and first saw ST in my colleges Rathskellar in 1973...
Very high quality audio and video.
Camera pans of the crowd are basically all on the hot chicks...not a bad thing but got "sideeyed" by the wife quite a few times as she commented on the fact hehehe. Also watch the age range of the fans...runs from people like me...50...to the typical "youngsters" to some children in the pre-teen age...all share the same thing...fans of Aerosmith.

Queen: We will Rock You
Not a bad show but wife and I were hoping for more of a "show". They perform well and the audio is very well done.
Watch the people in the front of the stage. There is one person standing there that seems to not care whether he is there or standing in the popcorn line.

my favorite concerts...

Cream Live At Royal Albert Hall

Excellent DVD, awesome performance. Jack Bruce's Bass is turned way up in this one. Also Ginger Baker's Bass drum really thumps you in the chest when you crank this DVD.

One of my favorites!! Also one of the concert DVD's my 10 month old girl really likes (she will only sit and watch concert DVD's... no cartoons).

Yes Symphonic Live

God these guys are awesome performers. This is by far their best DVD. Excellent sound, Excellent performance. Too bad Rick Wakeman and Bill Bruford weren't part of this performance. Hey Chris Squire... you are one of the all time greatest bass players, but what's with the spandex.

I have watched this DVD about a thousandd times (seriously!!) This is my little girl's favorite DVD. She stops everything when this DVD comes on. She loves every song especially "Don't go"

Rush: Rush in Rio & R30

Super performance. Excellent sounding bass. People will disagree, but I love the sound of the crowd in the Rio DVD. You know they are totally into it. Only disappointment is the exclusion of YYZ and La Villa Strangiatto in R30 (it was the R30 concert in Marysville, CA)

Phill Collins Farewell tour

Love the opening drum trio then the transitiont to "Something Happened on the Way to Heaven"... Awesome sound and musicians.

Tori Amos (the Soundstage concert)

What can I say... She's Uber hot, wicked piano player and singer. Sound is superb, and her bandmates back her well.

Peter Gabriel Growing Up Tour

Masterful perfomance by awesome muscians. He just puts on an awesome show.

These are some of mine and my little gir's favorite concerts. There are more concerts I'll mention in a later post...

I'm watching and listening with:

Hitachi PJ-TX100
Denon 3910
Harmon Kardon AVR635
Dishnetwork HD (Rave channel is the best)
Omnifi DMS1
Orb Audio speakers
Paradigm PS-1000 subwoofer
