I have never had the custom print ones. I will get those if I decide to put some in the office.

I'm not sure if my Elites were pre-made or not. GIK sent them to me for free.

I had ordered some basic, no-frame panels and were not happy with them, I called Glen and told him that and he said to just send them back for a full refund. There was an issue with PayPal on the refund and it took several weeks to get it straightened out. Glen actually sent me a personal check and asked that if the PayPal refund worked out that I refund his check. PayPal finally refunded me and I just shreeded the check he sent me.

Out of the blue, Glen called me one day and asked if my address was still the same. The next week a set of free Elites showed up at my house.

Glen is a class act guy.
Didnt get a chance to talk to Glen because Frank emailed me back but he does sound like a nice guy especialy the way he hooked you up . Im kind of afraid to ask but what didnt you like about the non framed panels because thats what I ordered

They just didn't look "finished" and the corners were weird. Hard to explain but I am sure there is a thread on here about them and some pictures.

Factor, a while ago I took a couple of photos for someone I was helping at AH (though I haven't seen that person post here in years). Even though this might be the best shot I have, it's not from the front, but from the side/behind. From left to right, they are 242, 244, Real Trap HF Mondo.

I agree with the Dawg that the corners are definitely less than desirable. Knowing you and your insane ability to detect display-bowing of only 1 micron, I think you should get the framed type. Excellent input by PD, imo. For me, the GIKs are used in sort of a batcave, and all but one are hidden behind burgundy curtaining.

Ok thats good to know and thankyou :) The last thing i'd want to happen is to have to wait 2 weeks and then not be happy .

LOL I am pretty critical when it comes to good corners and straight edges and it must be from four years of cabinet making and a little finish carpentry in my blood . After seeing those pics im going to change my order and go to the elites but I dont think you can get the 244's framed only the 242's so thats what i'll get . Thanks for the pics Josten !

Some say that the 242 will tame the same as the 244 since it is on a 4' frame and has a 2" air gap.

Others don't think that is true but one could easily just buy a $20 pack of mineral board and turn the 242 into 244's in about 10 seconds will no work involved. Matter of fact, I did that myself.

Since you can work with wood, you can build the same exact panels as the 244's for about $14 each. I have also done that and I am terrible at working with wood.

Cool im pretty excited now and for some reason more than my first order:D lol Eventualy im either going to get another set of elites or some 244's if I can Hide them :p j/k I just really wouldnt want them on my front stage maybe on the back wall or corners I could live with the non-framed . The non-framed isnt bad but the framed look much cleaner .

I can't find it right now, but I'm pretty sure bpape somewhat recently shared the difference in performance. It's all about how low it absorbs. Air gap helps the treatment be a little more efficient, as far as I understand, as the waves get absorbed on the way through, a tiny bit at the wall, and then some more on the way back out. However, it is said that nothing beats pure mass. Experts like b pape would simply want to know what the target frequencies are first. OTOH, my stupid instinct tells me thicker/bigger/massive is better, as something like the 242 will only absorb to a midrange frequency I am led to believe (maybe mid 200's hz?), and for many rooms, something even more massive than the 244 may be desired.

Sorry I'm late to the party here. I have quite a bit invested in GIK and have found them fair and a good product for the price.

I have ordered my last 5 panels from ATS Acoustics. They are IMHO, better quality and the pricing is similar except for custom sizes. GIK was over double the price for two custom sized panels (58"X34") I ordered as light control for my window sills in my room.

Better late then never and thanks for stopping by :D Seriously thanks for the input and I was actually checking out ATS Acoustics and they are alot cheaper and I think im going to use ATS for the rest of my room . Although I dont think they have any bass traps so I might pickup some corner bass traps from GIK or just a couple of 244's But for sure from ATS im going to use for the rest of the Acoustical panels in the room. Im glad to hear there quality is good so that just confirms i'll use them . I was just going to get one panel from ATS to see what it looked like before I ordered anymore. Thanks again for the input :)

No problem, good idea to order one and check it out for yourself. I just wish someone had mentioned ATS to me about 28 panels ago ;).
