Is Emotiva the ReIncarnation of Mondial Designs?

lol...they turn on the amp you outdated old man!
So what do you hook it to?

Okay, so you hook the 12v trigger to your receiver or preamp?

Oh, wait, I do remember seeing the 12v triggers on my Acurus amps!

So that's what they are for...

I don't even like remote controls and automation (is that a word?). I like mostly analog and manual control. I like being in control. The machines need to know that I'm the boss!

If you had any control what-so-ever, you wouldn't be buying all this stereo stuff. Hook up the 12v. go get a universal remote and join the real world.

You may have a point.:D

Okay, so if the Emo's 12v is atypical, what do you use to hook it up?

When I read all the infos and reviews regarding Emotiva amps and pre-pros, I can't help but feel that they have a lot in common with Mondial Designs, the parent company of Acurus and Aragon.
Very interesting analogy. I was good friends with one of the founders of Acurus/Aragon (Tony Federici) who sadly passed away a few years ago. He was a straight up guy that despised BS and nonsense and was interested only in offering quality products without the fluff. Dan Laufman from Emotiva has a very similar personality in that regard and I believe he runs Emotiva with a similar philosophy.

If you don't want to use the 12v turn on, it will turn on with input signal, but the 12v is better.

I will definitely try the 12v because I have never done that before.
Gotta do something new.

I live a very exciting and adventurous life, you know?:D

So are you using the Radio Shack 1/8" phono plugs too?

Well, I still have my Acurus RL-11 preamps. So technically, I can still be AcuDefTechGuy.:D

Now if Emotiva ever come out with a pre-pros that can match the 2-ch audio performance of a true analog stereo preamp, then I will become a EmoDefTechGuy.:)
Well, if you're using both, let's not show favorites. We can call you AcuEmoDefTechGuy. :D

Does that look like it has a plug on one end and two wires on the other?:D They make one ready for you to plug in. You can cut the plug off of one end but the wires are really small and difficult to work with so just get the one that is already done.
You mean one end has a 1/8" plug, and the other end has just two stripped bare wires?

Something like this, except with 2 stripped wires instead of 1?:

The EMO uses a cheap little connector that accepts the bare wires.
