This is my last post on this topic, waste of time really. I am leaving with this. If evolutionist are so d!@#m sure they are correct and evolution is fact then why has this prize not been won? Why have they dodged debate after debate with these guys and not been willing to take it into a court of law and get their money and fame. I know the answer.

Why go for that nutbar's pissant prize when any *authenticated* challenge to evolution would win you the most prestigious of all in science: the Nobel Prize?

Btw, instead iof 'evolutionist', try writing 'scientist'. It's more accurate that way. After all, we don't speak of 'gravitationists', do we? (Though if the ID crowd has its ignorant way and overturns 'dogmatic materialism', we may have to start.)

And not a single "evolution basher" who critisises biology without offering their own $10,000  Oh yeah, that websites really neutral.

LOL! I read today that there is no theory of evolution....just creatures that Chuck Norris has allowed to live.

Don't forget Bible Study classes. Believe me, these young kids get ID (call it what you want) at a very young age if the parents are somewhat religious - depending on the belief system. It's probably a rude awakening in 5th or 6th grade (I'm old, when do they spring this on our kids?) when their science teacher tells them where they actually came from.

Exactly. In that case why waste good money in schools discussing this at all, except to set the record straight from experts in the field. Hard to break through a brainwashed mind:D
Thanks for that link to the sonic sock wave. You should have heard Paul Harvey commenting about this the other day. Like someone has discovered some new science with this visible shock wave. What an misguided person he is. This is nothing new, well know visible event. We had this locally from a local air show and was one of the picture of the year. It is the moisture being compressed and becoming visible in the shock wave. Sometimes I wonder about his kind.

Are you serious???

That link is like Hovind $250,000 offer. Impossible to win.
http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/hovind.html

Maybe the ID folks can muster up their troopers and publish a peer paper in a respected Journal??? Staring the author who must redefine what a scientific theory is in order for his silliness to qualify. But then, Astrology is a scientific theory as well, under his definition. LOL
Oh, I know, there is a conspiracy in the scientific community to squelch anything ID, right???

Hmmm, OK Gene imposible rules for the evolutionist. Are you kidding me? Looks even to me. Unless evolution is not science then maybe you have a point. Give me a break:rolleyes:

Rules for the Life Science Prize
1. The evolutionist puts $10,000 in escrow with the judge.
2. The creationist puts $10,000 in escrow with the judge.
3. If the evolutionist proves evolution is science and creation is religion, then the evolutionist is awarded the $20,000.
4. If the creationist proves creation is science and evolution is religion, then the creationist is awarded the $20,000.
5. Evidence must be scientific, that is, objective, valid, reliable and calibrated.
6. The preponderance of evidence prevails.
7. At the end of the trial, the judge hands the prevailing party both checks.
8. The judge is a superior court judge.
9. The venue is a courthouse.

FAQ# 23. How is the judge chosen?

Whichever judge is available must confirm that he can be
completely objective, that he thoroughly understands the rules for counting evidence, that he will strictly rule according to those rules, and he must be acceptable to both sides. The judge would be a Superior Court judge that would be able to take the case
without bias, which is the usual condition for a trial. In addition, the judge would be
acceptable to both sides prior to the trial, which is also the usual condition for a trial.
There will be no impediment on this issue.
Courts have rules on recusing judges. If necessary, those rules shall apply.

Yes sir certainly sounds rigged to me.
Yes, you must be joking. Judges are poor in science, have no training or minimal at best. You want him to judge what is science and what is not??? Who will determine whether the ID folks even have science at their disposal??? The Judge???

How about a scientific body determining what would be admissible as scientific evidence???

Oh, that would not be fair, right??? There would not be one document submitted by the ID folks. Yes, that is unfair indeed.

How about the ID folks just publish some science Journal articles in a peer paper??? Too difficult???

And, as gene linked to the TRIAL, ID is a religion and the ID folks got to keep their $10k. What is there to debate or yet another trial??? Oh, you will continue until you get lucky and find the right judge.
That is not the way science is decided, no matter how much you protest. A silly challenge.

Mtry,

Did you see the special on PBS tonight: A scientist went to the middle east to research the journeys Moses and Abraham took in the old testament. He was a total non believer - all facts.

Here's the show - I think it's ongoing: http://www.pbs.org/walkingthebible/

It was shocking how accurate the maps were in the bible to their travels (assuming they weren't redone over time to correspond to modern maps). This scientist visited the site where Abraham took his only son Isaac to be sacrificed, and it seemed to really shake him up.

He asked all his local guides if they believed all the stories in the bible. Most told him they are somewhat accurate accounts, but a lot has been changed over time - interesting as those who live there - you would think - would swear by the bible account for tourism $$$.

He comments

"And if I had to say what happened to me in a sentence with Walking the Bible, it would be that my learning went from my head to my feet. So the big transformation was being on the land, developing this kind of physical connection to this geography, and finding the story in the geography itself. I don't think I ever realized that the Bible consisted of real stories that happened to real people. I think I always thought of it as happening in some kind of mythic time and place. So I think what happened to me, what happened to my relationship with the Bible, was that I just became really grounded."

It would be an interesting trip, nontheless.

Yes!, Stop the presses!!! No more scientific theories allowed, just mythology, bs, voodoo, urban legends. :D

Lets get back to the earth centrist theory, earth is the center of the universe. There is no atoms. That theory is just a theory, bunk. No continents drifted. No mutation. Oh, we don't need to immunize them against the bird flu, right? No mutation, evolution.

Thanks but no, I didn't see it. I need to get other scientist's input on this. One doesn't create facts, just a beginning.
Remember the Shroud of Turin? Of course you do. How many scientists accepted the shroud as the real deal after their examinations to be proven wrong???
I don't roll over this easy:D Later, with sufficient weight of evidence, I have no problem changing views.

And, as you indicated, who is to know about the authenticity of the bible maps. Do we have an original map authenticated to that time period??? We have copies, interpretations from people who have an interest in fostering the right story for their cause perhaps.

Mudcat, Excellent post my friend.

Oh BTW, In order for sperm to survive, it needs to maintain a certain temprature. If the genitles were inside the body, it would be to hot. Like wise, they would be to cold outside. Thusly, they have to sorta hang somewhere, so the can control their temprature. I think there spot right now is better then the chin, no? :D

Back on topic.

I love mormans. A complelte religion started by world of mouth. Wait, they're all like that, just these guys were a little slow. :D

SheepStar

But, an intelligent designer should have done a better job of designing this sperm bank or the sperm itself, like not be so sensitive to temperature? Why does it have to be sensitive to temperature if it was intelligently designed??? Don't ask me, I am not it:D

Here's some of his quotes - he's not totally off his mark:

What stands out as the most emotionally extreme moment of the trip?

Being in the Sinai in general, particularly the experience of being at St. Catherine's monastery and climbing Mount Sinai itself. Here you've got this desert landscape, you've got 40,000 people living in the Sinai - an area the size of Ireland. It's absolutely empty, desolate. And hundreds of miles from anywhere, in the middle of nowhere, is this monastery. It was built 1,500 years ago by monks who thought that one particular bush was the Burning Bush, where Moses saw the face of God. First of all, it's beautiful. But just the idea that for 1,500 years, pilgrims have come to this place, believing it to have been associated with the Bible - even if it's not the actual place - just that fact gives it incredible spirituality. St. Catherine's still has the oldest operating church in the world, where they still have services five times a day in Byzantine Greek.

I think what's really going on in America today is that people are really questioning their faith. They want to have a relationship with God, but are sometimes frustrated by their religious institutions and their religious education.

Walking the Bible spent a year on the New York Times Bestseller List. I would say that the most fascinating and rewarding experience, the hardest thing about writing Walking the Bible, was about my struggle with the story. At times I felt close to God, and times, far away. At times, I really loved the story, and at times, I was really horrified by certain aspects of the story.

But then you wouldn't have the pleasure of "going comando" and letting the boys breath:D

This thread might set a record if it's allowed to meander along.

Where does the platypus fall in the intelligent design theory?
