Who's shooting? I was asking a question and to be honest, it would be helpful to all if more people would indicate their location so this kind of confusion wouldn't happen as much. You didn't say and I guess I effed up by assuming but regardless, you have a different perspective, opinion and knowledge of Mexico's situation, so I still wanted an answer.
It's all on my public profile. No harm no foul.;)

Well, at least some in Mexico are making a decent living:

“The cartels have found this is the most lucrative place to come in the United States,” said Coulson. “We're fighting a corporation, an entity that has resources of $10 billion at their disposal.” The DEA estimates that the drug cartels generate about $10 billion annually from the sale of drugs which pass through Arizona alone.

“Right now, the volume of marijuana that will be seized in southern Arizona will be approximately, we predict, 1.4 million pounds [700 tons] by the end of this calendar year. That is beyond what we've ever seized before,” Coulson said.

While that number is staggering and can be credited to effective and coordinated law enforcement efforts, agents said, it only represents an estimated 20 percent of all the marijuana that will enter the United States through Arizona this year. That means another 7 million pounds (3,500 tons) is being smuggled into the U.S. undetected through this state alone.

So, a few Mexicans slip across the border once in a while to make a few dollars, no harm done, right?

Nice theory- how do we verify their identity when they give false names? Where do we keep them while we wait for the real info to clear?
I honestly don't know - how do we verify anyone's identity when they give false names? I know this happens.

You'd keep them in their own country; you'd apply for residency, you'd have a background check done.

I'd like the US to be allowed to secure its borders to the same extent other countries can. I just can't see why so many people think it's OK to dump all over the US for wanting illegals to either come in legally or stay away. I don't place a burden on anyone and I don't think anyone should just waltz in and be a burden here. People come here legally all the time. If someone's criminal history is bad, I don't want them here. I know someone who had a DUI in Wisconsin and he wanted to go skiing in Vancouver. They denied his request and then I come here to see Canadians telling me that the US should just let illegals stay here without penalty. Pretty hypocritical, if they think Canadian border policies are OK, don't you think?

I don't have a problem with people coming here but if they're criminals, they can stay out. The links I posted show that far too many of the ones here now should be in prison somewhere, but not here. They should be returned to their country of origin, but they're often released not long after they go back. Our politicians are pissing away so much money on trying to be heros that the dollar's value will surely suffer and it's expensive enough here as it is. The economic problems have also had an impact on illegal entries- fewer are coming here because it costs too much. My expenses keep increasing but I can't pay myself more because I would lose business if prices increase too much.

Oh c’mon now, be reasonable - they’re just good honest people just trying to feed their poor starving children ;)

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Federal officials say 31 people in Minnesota have been arrested as part of the largest single strike at Mexican drug operations in the U.S.
Drug Enforcement Administration spokesman Will Taylor in Chicago says the arrests were made Wednesday. He says several search warrants were also executed in the state.

Taylor says he can't give more details because the indictments against the members of the La Familia cartel in the state remain sealed in federal court.
Attorney General Eric Holder calls La Familia the newest and most violent of Mexico's five drug cartels.

More than 3,000 federal agents and police officers made the arrests in more than a dozen states. The raids are part of a long-running anti-drug operation that has led to nearly 1,200 arrests over almost four years.

We could always invade Mexico... They can't possibly have more than a dozen tanks and a couple RPGs... Then, once Mexico is part of the US, there will no longer be an issue.

Heck, that's small potatoes.

Let's look at the big picture of that raid.

"OKLAHOMA CITY — In the largest single strike at Mexican drug operations in the U.S., authorities arrested more than 300 people in a sting that demonstrates an upstart cartel's vast reach north of the border.

The tentacles of "La Familia" extend coast to coast and deep into America's heartland, with arrests announced Thursday in 38 cities from Boston to Seattle and from St. Paul, Minn., to Raleigh, N.C."

Couldn't we just send them a memo explaining that we have already taken over their country?

I believe that would just be met with a laugh as surely they thought that they had already taken over our country,

Well, since they obviously posses the technology to travel billions of light years through space, - wait – why didn’t they just land in the US in the first place and save themselves the trouble of trying to get in illegally?

That's true enough. But then we could send them pictures of all our tanks & missiles. The whole war could be fought through email until a compromise was reached.

They would follow that up with pics from our social services buildings and tell us we dont have any money left to put fuel in those tanks, see all those mexican citizens collecting your government money well there just about out of cash now, maybe the illegals can just push em to the border for us hey its the least they can do, right.

See? That's a great start. Let's turn this over to the two governments and let them hash it out via cybor war. Maybe they could even set up a couple of PS/3's at the Whitehouse. Best 2 out of 3 on Warhawk takes it.

And of course, since everything would use really advanced, proprietary encryption, all they would see is '404-Page not found'.

My take on this one (or any other similar case, BTW...),

by simply arresting those bastards, means nothing down the line, as they're extremely healthy & powerful ones (the mob tentacles), so everything boils down to the the same old concept; i.e.; all human beings are equal, human rights, democracy, religion, bla, bla, bla...

You know what? I DO NOT consider those bastards as human beings at all.
IMO, there would have something like an "international consensus law", that imposes a sudden death penalty to the "de facto" proven drug smugglers as, IMO, they don't deserve nothing more that that; period.

In other hand, I really don't care about the illegals, as they're everywhere.
They're just like the birds... heading south when the winter time comes, looking for a cozzy shelter, which could be translated into a better way of life.

Have you seen any illegals migrating down to Somalia, for instance?? It's always the other way'round... Poor country immigrants always look for healthy countries to live at, historically... Oh, and we do need' em, BTW...

IIRC, Dirty Harry was the one and only to do the real dirty job here in America though ;)

End of rant :)
