I need some help with a new Klipsch system

Heres my story, I recently upgraded to a new Klipsch system all reference series 2 equipment. I currently have a Harman Kardon AVR135 receiver. The issue is I upgraded from a chepo JBL surround sound system with satellite speakers and that sounded better. The depth of sound just isn't there. I don't know what to do. Can anyone offer some suggestions.

The depth of sound just isn't there. I don't know what to do. Can anyone offer some suggestions.

Question - did you test the sonic signature character, before
you bought them?

The Klipsch Reference horn character is different - there is detail
and some definition - however, they tend to be lacking in depth.

Also, how do you have them placed in your room - and does your
room have a lot of hard surfaces?

I did not test them because I couldn't find a place that had them set up. These fit into the budget. I didn't have the money to go nicer unfortunately. I jut don't understand how they can sound worse then my stupid satillite speakers. They are place in my living room with a sectional couch and tv stand. Center channel is under the TV, fronts are on either side about 8 feet apart, and rears are above either level 3 feet on the back wall. The surround sound is really what I think is different/biggest issue.

As you've just learned, "nicer" doesn't necessarially mean "more expensive". Different manufacturers intentionally design their speakers to sound different from other manufacturers, That's so they can cater to different tastes.

You've just discovered the downfall of buying speakers on price, what you've read, and other peoples opinions.

You might want to consider returning them and trying other brands.

Well that's not excatly an option. I got them as a Christmas present so it has been awhile. I am trying to do the best I can with what I got. When going from a satalite speak 3 inches around to huge floor standing speakers I can believe the range of sound is worse. Please can people offer suggestions other than take them back.

Try moving them around to get the sweet spot. Try to get the tweeter by your ear. If you can take some pics of your setup, so we can try to help you out. Might just need a little adjustment. EDIT. I recently had a problem with placement, but moving them around really helped and now they sound great.
