HSU Research has announced what is their most ambitious subwoofer to date: the D15-Chimera and D15-Chimera SC. The D15-Chimera is 'merely' a dual 15" sealed subwoofer powered by a 1,200-watt RMS amplifier. The D15-Chimera SC takes that sealed sub and adds a module called the Supercharger which turns it into a monster ported subwoofer. How does one go about turning a sealed subwoofer into a ported subwoofer? Read our in-depth preview to find out!

Shady I and many other regulars on this forum have experienced so many subwoofers over the years. So it's very very rare for myself (and I apologize if I'm speaking presumptuously for others) and many of us to get truly excited over subwoofer reviews.

Even if tried before this is such a unique idea that I honestly have never experienced that at least for myself I am seriously excited about.

I cannot WAIT FOR THIS REVIEW.Thank you Shady for all the hard work you do.

What an astonishingly clever idea. If you put that in a home, it had better have robust walls. I bet that could produce a shock wave.

You know what @shadyJ I can't wait to see your measurements of the sealed version by itself. That's going to pack a wallop as is. 4 of those bad boys would be nice enough on their own :)

Finally read the article. Outstanding!
As Danno said, I’m really excited for this review.

I know that it's mentioned at the end of the article, but, while not inexpensive, that really is a very competitive price for the touted performance.m Looking forward to the full review.

I agree. HSU has always represented great value. SVS used to, but imo hasn’t for a long time.
This new chimera is really exciting to me. I also think it has a better chance of success than the turbo version considering that many consumers seem to have grown somewhat accustomed to larger subs. It’s almost like 15” is the base(not bass lol)level. Especially when many guys are using 18”, 21”, and even 24”. Obviously the ratio of those bigger units to something more manageable like a 12” is small. But it’s become common vocabulary to consider an 18” subwoofer. Time will tell for sure.
At the very least, this is an example of thinking outside of the box, and just masterful design.

Yeah, with the more exposure we have online to bigger woofers, it still doesn't always prepare you for just how much bigger they are.

21" sealed sub on the right, HSU ULS-15mk2 on the left.
