How low do does a subwoofer really need to go?

I’m hoping to try the Q350 out as 3 identical and the middle one on its side. This seems to be a great scientific approach but I hope it sounds musical and also keeps up for movies. Thanks.
Brother I want to thank you for the heads up on Rhythmik. I got a killer deal on dual FV18's since I live close and can pickup. I have a buyer for the PB 2000's. So the end total is going to be ridonculous on what I pay for duals. Can't turn that down bro. That's all the bass I'll need in that room for LIFE. Thanks again if you are ever down in San Antonio Texas hit me up I owe you at least dinner and some beers for your help on this one. They arrive the first week of September so I'm super stoked I'll hit you up with pics and what they sound like when I get them set up. Thanks again my friend!

You can't have too much sub capability, IMO, since more capability typically means lower distortion at the output levels you actually use.

Just out of curiosity, what is the volume of the room (in cubic feet) you have the FV18s in?

Man I haven't sat down and measured it myself I've given the dimensions to Rhythmik and that's what they recommended. 14ft ceilings from front door to back wall 25ft. From that wall to kitchen and back wall by that side 20 to 24 feet. From back door to pantry room in front of kitchen 18 to 20ft. All open space welcome to Texas. They wanted me to get the FV25's but they understood those were just too big for where I wanted them and they said the FV 18's in duals should work just fine. So..... We shall see!!!! Lol

That's roughly the same volume as my room (~8500 cubic feet), and I think you'll do just fine with dual 18" vented subs. And those FV18s are huge.

Hey thanks yeah if that doesn't cover it I don't know what would Lol

I haven't followed all of the million responses, but in my opinion I'd get multiple subs in a heartbeat over one sub that digs deep. Running 2 subs to me has a huge benefit over just one, just a 'wider' stage 'easier' to get a more consistent spl at multiple sitting positions. It may not dig as low as we would all like, but one thing for sure (you all HAVE to agree with me) bass is not cheap. I'll take 2,3 or 4 'decent' subs over one single beast any day.

I thought the same thing untill I heard Billyp's 2 or 3 thousand dollar PSA job with a Thor movie up in Toronto and Greg Pdawg thought one killer SVS sub was also enough so he sold off the second one. I think once you hit a certain price point, one is enough.

Still, I've found two cheese subs (mine) sound better than the $1200 MSRP RBH thing I bought used recently. I've got the cheese subs eq'ed using REW. Once one plate amp died, I amped it up externally and it sounded so much better/stronger that I disabled the plate amp in the second one in order to amp it up externally as well and then EQ'ed them as dual mono.

So in practice, I agree with you because I can't afford to prove you wrong.

Wow sounds like some of these guys have 4 ported 18s?! :)

You have to come with at least 8 to get noticed. :)

Anyhow hope the beers are still cold? :)
I know bro I feel embarrassed with my two subs action Lol. The beers? Hell yeah bro not just cold they're on ice!
