House of the Dragon on HBO! (4k/HDR/ATMOS)

Are you streaming it and watching in 4k/Atmos? Watching on regular TV? What do you think of the streaming quality? Lets discuss!


So far I'm loving the show. It's great to be back in Westeros!

I saw the first episode in 4k Dolby vision. Turned out the picture and audio quality is no different than other streaming services. I'll wait for uhd blu-ray disk release like i should of done in the first place!

HBO Max via PS5. PQ was very good, however the audio via the PS5 app does not give me Atmos. Not a lot of scenes so far where Atmos would really benefit so far I think though. Maybe the dragon scene in E2. E1 was a bit busy, as expected since it has to lay groundwork, but E2 was pretty good.

Didn't realize it was out now....I've just got a 7.1/1080p plasma setup with medium internet service so won't be able to help out beyond that

Yeah, I've noticed the atmos channels are not blowing up much at all. With the show being mostly talking and a dragon scene being sprinkled in here and there, not much is happening with those channels.

PQ though has been pretty darn good. Some exterior shots of Kings landing look pretty soft. You can tell all that is CGI. I feel like GoT's exterior shots of Kings Landing were a lot better. More detailed.

Nothing will beat physical disc. I can agree with you on that 100%. But I will say, being able to watch this show in 4k vs cable version, is night and day different. For some reason the first episode never appeared for me when it aired at 8pm. So, I watched it on cable TV. Then this week the new episode showed up 2-3 mins before 8pm. So was able to finally watch it in the 4k presentation. That's how I will be viewing the remaining episodes for this season.

4 Episodes in. Still really like this show.

I don't really mind that they've been jumping month's/years between each episode. For those that watched episode 4, do you know what the time difference since episode 3? I know in episode 3 they jumped two years after episode 2.

What did everyone think of this latest episode?

I thought it was a bit more of a return to the drama behind the throne thing....but just how far did Daemon get? (I could get graphic with my guess before the mission was aborted but probably wouldn't go over too well)

Yeah, I figured an episode like this one was going to happen. You could see since episode 1 that Daemon had some feelings for Rhaenyra.

I'm glad that Rhaenyra and Alicent have mended things since episode 3. But damn, Rhaenyra definitely has it out to get Otto.

The king is looking beat up every single episode. He seems to be getting more and more open wounds around his body and his 2 fingers are rotting off. Wonder how much longer he's got? Or do you think someone will take him down before any type of infection/disease gets him?

At least they fixed the cgi for the fingers....
