help on deciding small but powerful speakers

I've always purchased HTiB systems ..This time I decided to buy them seperately. almost decided on getting Onkyo 575 or 605 receiver.
But confused on speaker package.. my apartment room is small so i don't want to go for huge floor speakers and size plays important factor. At the same time, don't want to compromise too much on sound( I know it is too much to ask for )
I mostly use HT for watching movies..
Few speaker packages I thought of :-.
infinity tss-800,tss-1200,polk RM6880, klipsch cinema 6 .
Any suggestions..

I would like to add the Definitive Tech Procinema systems to the roster.:) They are quite good for the money, IMO. Paradigm also has some sounding satelite speaker offerings.:)

Steer clear of dem B0SE!;):D

I may be wrong, but before I spent $500-$1000 on any of those systems. I would be purchasing this system.

These speakers can also be wall mounted with no extra cost. :D

White and Silver are also on sale and a steal IMO at $799 for this system.

Agreed, I really like the look of the SVS. I haven't head them first-hand, but it seems like they can't be beat at the price. Try 'em out with the 30-day trial period.

I have heard the Infinity Primus speakers, and they are nice for the price as well. I'd probably go with the 162 series, which have the 6" driver rather than the 5" driver.

Good luck!

I second the Def Tech Procinema. Those little things can put out some damn good sound in a home theater setup.

that's a good point. even with onkyo 790, I had complaints from neightbour..:(
Also, i'm looking for wall mountable speaker package, otherwise I don't think my wife is going to approve that in the small living room..
I somehow like tss-1200 , but I've not listening to the other systems like def tech procinema, polk 6880 etc... what do u think about tss-1200 ??

ok :(
I was just curious. I liked the sound when i listened in the store and also the design suited what i was looking for ( mountable and small)..I thought i would get some opinion from audioholics regarding the sound quality of tss or polk 6880..

What is the most important is if it sounds good to you. Have you auditioned other system?

Hopefully someone that has experience with the tss-1200 will chime in. :D

The sats for the TSS-1200 are decent, but I don't think they are as nice as the Definitive Techs. I am pretty sure the sub that comes with the TSS-1200 is pretty wimpy.

I've never heard of TSS. I know for a fact that Polk makes great speakers in all price ranges. However, I have never heard any of thier HTIAB systems.

Personally I would either go with Polks or with the SVS speakers.:)

I try to avoid Polk's subs at all costs.:D They make decent sat speakers, but not great IMO, but their low end subwoofers in particular fall into the category of "powered woofer" which just makes a bunch of noise to me.;)

Budget is around $500.but can go upto $700..
what I'm hearing is the subs are not that great for both polk and infinity tss..In case of def tech pro cinema, only procinema 6 is somewhat nearer to budget.
so looks like back to square one on speaker selection. I use HT mainly for movies. as I mentioned earlier, I'm looking for
1) budget max.$700
2) speaker package (5.1)
3) wall mountable speakers since my apt room is small..
I'm ready to sacrifice bit on performance considering my budget ..

Thanks..
