help on deciding small but powerful speakers

I think Mazer has you covered. I would spend the extra money for the SV sub for two reasons. First, it's better. Second, it is not down firing. You could use some energy absorbing material underneath to help with the neighbors. A down firing sub is gonna hammer the floor. If you are on the first floor, then I guess the X-sub would be OK.

SVS only sells online. But they give you 30 days to try it out. If you don't like it you can return it.

Like cfrizz said. SVS is an internet only company. They produce quality speakers and subwoofers. There costumer service is excellent, and most times exceeds your expectations.

Plus I wouldn't have recommended then if they sounded or performed badly.

Mirage Omnisat v2 Satellites

The Mirage omnisat v2 satellites are wall mountable and sound excellent with a very wide soundstage. Do need subwoofer but looks like you would be getting anyways. Crutchfield has them. Another option is the mirage nanoset system which goes for 799$ crutchfield also sells. Check them out before deciding.
