This is a JBL Power 50 compact amplifier. It was intended for use with a specific JBL system, how it is very practical for a wide array of speakers. It's very simple and clean making it a great amplifier to just have around. It's rated at 50 watts x 2 @ 6 ohms both channels driven and can be bridged to 80 watts @ 12 ohms, however it's probably pretty limited in compatibility with other speakers as it's apparently only supposed to be used with a 12 ohm load while bridged (silly).
It sports a pair of 4,700uF 50v capacitors and a total of 4 discrete transistors mounted the the heaviest part of the amp, the heatsink. The top and bottom of the amp appear to be powder coated 1/8" steel plates, the whole amp just looks like a piece of cast iron, although I'm pretty sure the heatsink is still an aluminum alloy.
Along with the ability to be bridged the amplifier has a couple of other cool features which include an auto detect which seems to have an appropriate sensitivity (don't you hate it when your subwoofer auto shuts off and you miss the big kaboom?

) It also has a gain control positioned on the front of the amp. You can place the amp on it's sides or flat. On the back there is a cable managing "door" that is slightly difficult to open but functions very well and doesn't scratch the finish on the amp.
