Didn't he replace his beloved Status Acoustics speakers with the SVTRs? That says a lot to me. I just now read that there's a separate compartment in your 831s you can fill with 100 lbs of sand or precleaned aquarium gravel for even more damping.

He took a side by side pic of the 2 different drivers in both sub models, the 1212N and 1212NR. There's a huge difference. The motor structure for the NR dwarfs the one they use in the N.
