can anyone recommend mp3 to wave converter software,
that is:
-free
-very easy to use
-not buggy
I need to recommend something to non-English speaking person, so this should be very easy to use...
Many thanks in advance for every help

Yes, it's called itunes. Easy to use, not buggy and free. After it is installed and all your mp3's are imported, then change the encoder settings to WAV, right click on any file and choose convert to wav. Then you can sort by type and drag all the WAV's to where you want them. Simple, stable, fast, and free. What more could you want. I just did one while I typed this to test it out :)

right, thanks...Well, I do not need the whole combo, and do not want to import anything into library, I need a simple software that does just converting from mp3 to wave, you see. Something that, when opened, would have a "select file" option and a big button "wave-->mp3". Nothing more.
I tried CDeX in the meantime, but it is shareware...
It is for my dad who is not very literate with PCs and has no English.
iTunes would confuse him.
Please, do not slag my dad :))
Thanks in advance for any further recommendations.

I think your dad will be just fine, my dad can use it and he has had part of his brain removed  Just do a search at versiontracker.com I am sure there are tons shareware/freeware programs that will do what you want.

I use dBpowerAMP music converter. It embeds in your right-click menu, so that whenever you right-click on a music file, one of the options is "Convert to..." and it's a quick, easy way of converting wav to mp3 or mp3 to wav. It's free too. I found it years ago on tucows.com, I think.

THAT sounds cool - I will need to find that one and put it in my software library!

"Switch" works the same way

"Switch" (see my earlier post) embeds itself in your right-click mouse menu, just as dbPowerAmp does. However, dbPowerAmp's mp3 encoder only works for 30 days; after that you pay $14. "Switch" is freeware (i.e., there is never a charge).

Really? I've had dBpowerAMP for years (and it was freeware when I got it) and have never paid a dime. Maybe it's for the newest version. Sorry then, my bad.

cheers,

OK, thanks everyone, I sent my dad a link to Switch and it works fine for him. I find dBpowerAMP same good if not better, but link to switch came up first here so I went for that one. Thanks a lot!
