The general consensus is that people who buy domestic don't get it at all. It's not about supporting your country, or supporting US workers (which was pointed out earlier to actually be counter-productive), it's about buying the best product. How can you expect people to buy crappy products, and be making a rational decision at the same time? They're no different then people that buy 200 dollar cable risers. They're putting their money into something they've rationalized to be good. Rationalization, a lie to make yourself feel good.
Buy any car you want, doesn't bother me. Just don't complain about other car manufactures, and don't take shots because others made a different decision then you. Someone buy a car that doesn't help you out? Maybe you're working for the wrong company.

I haven't complained about other car companies, nor have I taken any shots at anybody or any thing. That's a complete mis-characterization of what I said, almost as if you are looking for an argument where there isn't one. I simply said that I don't get the obsession with Honda and Toyota. That's a very neutral statement that only describes my reaction to those products. I haven't said anything about their quality, design, performance, origin or any other thing about those cars. Most of all, I didn't call them crappy and insult their owners.
I do rather resent the implication that I'm dissing other manufacturers for the benefit of my employment. Perhaps it escaped your attention that I work for Ford, yet I bought a Chevrolet? How does that play into your scenario that I'm plugging for the benefit of my employer? A: It doesn't. Your comments are unwarranted and I find your implication personally insulting.
Apparently, you reserve for yourself the right to be judgmental, to make sweeping generalizations and to insult people for the decisions they make. That's to be expected of a fanboy, calling other products crappy as a sweeping generalization. But don't bring your hostility to me. I almost bought a V6 Accord once but decided that it wasn't worth the high asking price. They're pretty expensive. I also wrote up a deal on a Precidia once, but decided a Mustang convertible was more my style. Just recently, I also considered a WRX or an Evo before the Vette. I like the GTR and the R8 but they are simply too expensive. I love my Vette and it's affordable for me. If you want to call it crappy and say I lied to myself and rationalized that decision, that is more a reflection of you than me.
As far as Honda and Toyota go, I've shopped them. Apparently I don't see what so many other people see in them. If I saw some compelling reason to buy one of those cars, I would. It makes no difference to Ford if I buy a Chevrolet or a Toyota or a Honda. They are all competitors of Ford. I buy what suits my taste, budget and requirements but unlike yourself, I don't insult other people for doing the same.
