Sounds like another plan to destroy America what happens when the power plants go down because of a EMP no one gets to drive at that point there will be no more gas cars so everyone will have to walk even motorcycles are turning over to electricity and bicycles so did anyone think about an EMP that Russia had already threatened to put on the United States I think this whole thing is a plan to destroy our way of life created by our own government.

You sound like an extremely bitter person you don't think I know that the whole thing is a plan to destroy the United States as we know it many people are asleep I just have knowledge of many different things.

Indeed. If power plants go down because of an EMP, we have much more to worry about besides being able to drive our vehicles.

Yes, I should have clarified I only have experience at Ford dealers as I only buy Ford vehicles. I always wondered if it was different at others dealerships. The ones at the 3-4 Ford dealers were pretty much the same and my preferred Ford dealership is the worst! Fast talking, slick and a bit intimidating or tries to be.

Same at other dealerships, since their incentives behind the scenes work similarly. During the last 20 years, have done deals at Toyota, Mazda, VW, BMW, & Audi. The latter two dealers experiences was helping friends out with purchases. It was hard to control them because both were so in love with the vehicles they would have paid over sticker. Now they are loving paying for 93 octane to run them. As we know, cars are very personal...

I work at Ford Lincoln Hyundai dealership. I have held many positions in our dealer group (3 Ford stores 1 Chevy store), sales Mgr., service Mgr, and yes annoying guy finance Mgr. Not all finance guys are like the ones you describe. I have wished for years something would change the dynamic between customer and dealerships. I would suspect that if customers paid msrp for cars like 98% of everything else they buy the experience would be more enjoyable. As for dealerships going away I suppose all things must end eventually. Look at blockbuster. Lol. If dealers can adapt they will survive. The ones that cling to methods used in the 80s won't.

As far as the dynamic between the dealer and customer- how would you change "You seem to have some money- we want it."? The movie 'Used Cars' was made for a reason- new car salespeople just dress better.

The estimates are 3 atmospheric detonations I believe. You'd have to have a car from the mid 70's or older to if you wanted to have a ride.

That's my business model: No city officials, that's not a 53 acre, unlicensed junkyard, it's just Bob's post apocalyptic car sales.

As much as people have tried to avoid being dependent on others, many need to think about the fact that safety in numbers is real and that cooperation among people in groups will be needed- gathering wood, hunting, growing/harvesting crops and providing basic medical services will be needed if the SHTF in a big way.

For those who know how, making power won't be impossible- car alternators can be rotated using human, air or water power and with the number of cars that won't be drivable, batteries will be widely available.

That's not the point- listen to the people you trust, but the real problem with CB/SW is that it's not peer to peer, so it's like a bunch of people standing in a field, shouting. Then, someone who doesn't like what they hear will cause problems for everyone else.

Not 'survivalist', survival, as a practical habit.

With respect to dealers, do not underestimate the impact of ordering cars online. More and more customers are going this route so less headcount needed.. Also, dealers also make a higher margin on selling used cars than new. Carmax has eaten into that business further pressuring their results. Right now, their Service departments make them the most money but that will change too. The long term impact of servicing EV's vs ICE has to be factored in.

Dealerships are going to have to adapt.
